Rain-X windshield washer fluid - yes or no?

So I've used the Rain-X fluid in previous vehicles for years. Seems when I google it some folks think it will adversely affect the level sensor.

Is it safe for use with the Maverick?

Ive never seen that in 25 years on any vehicle.

There was just a guy on the Maverick Reddit page today complaining about Rain-X washer fluid in his windshield washer tank. After using them a few times the sprayers clogged and he had to replace them, because even compressed air wouldn't clear them out. Sounds crazy, and might just be a one off from a defective jug. Thankfully for him the dealership replaced the sprayers under warranty.

If I recall he bought the truck used. No telling what the previous owner used!

I recall that some the windshield washer fluids that are Rain-X knock-offs or that advertise themselves as helping to keep bug guts off the glass are more prone to clog things up.

Also it's not wise to mix Rain-X (or others that coat the windshield) into any other fluid - no telling what you'll end up with.

Rain-x orange is all I've used for years, never had a issue. Reddit guy must of ran out of talent.

That would not surprise me, given the way some of them are over there.

I don't like the colorful residue left by some of them, so I got some Adam's washer fluid. It's one of the few that I could find without dyes, with rain repellent, and is freeze-resistant. Relatively pricey, but I don't go through washer-fluid terribly fast. Try to find it at a retailer though, cause shipping is $$$.

I don't blame you for not liking the dies but at $3 a bottle versus $9 plus shipping I'm good with $3 and some light orange diet doesn't bother me..

Once you have experienced the magic of Rain-X it's hard not to want it. Water rolls off the windshield so you use the wipers less, for example where you might use the intermittent setting on low during a mild rain shower you don't need to use it at all with Rain-X once it has coated your glass. And it makes the glass easier to clean, less scrubbing of bugs and such.

I'm waiting to use up the factory stuff (it came topped up and looks like there is still a good amount in there). I use the washers a lot as I have no garage and live in the country so at least once each time I drive which is 4-5 days a week.

I have used Rain X in numerous vehicles and I have used knock off brands. I have never heard of an issue caused by the brand of windshield wiper cleaner. The internet is a dangerous place

It's mixing brands of washer juice with additives I recommend against, no telling what can happen.
