Yes, 30% more horsepower will show up in quicker acceleration if nothing else.
This is my point.
Fingers point to nothing else.
If not nothing else, very little else now.

My 2022 FWD is at a disadvantage to an AWD 4k EcoBoost in several ways.

The 2026 AWD 4k Hybrid and 2026 AWD 4k EcoBoost seem to be on PAR in every way but one.

If the the 4k Hybrid tows my camper Las Vegas to Denver in 12 hours, and the EcoBoost tows the same trailer the same distance over the same roads in 11.5 hours, the abilities of the trucks are the same; but the EB is a little quicker / faster. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I don’t think ford governs the top speeds differently, so maybe not high speeds, but acceleration.
30% more horsepower gets around 12% 0-60 times. Makes me think the EB has much more potential in there.
This is a good side discussion, as the entire line of EcoBoost engines from Ford have shown huge potential for tuning, with big gains available if you are willing to further sacrifice your economy and emissions.

What is yet to prove is how much tuning could be applied by the next gen of boy racers, when they start to over-volt drive motors or hack custom power curves. All electric motors come with a 'tune' as well, to ensure you aren't wasting energy in the form of heat or wheel slip. There just isn't a big tuner crowd in that space yet, because the cars aren't old and cheap enough for youngsters to broadly acquire and start hacking..

Give it a few years, and this will be a whole hobby space...

I would amend that last point to be "your economy, emissions, and transmission". I would think the EcoBoost is deliberately de-tuned from the factory in part to keep the transmission from grenading during the warranty period and beyond.

Ford has in the past been accused of sandbagging HP ratings by multiple car rags as well, I recall my 2010 Milan was suspiciously quick to merge or pass for it's rated 240hp/250ft-lb 3.0 on 89 octane. It did, however, eat it's transmission (known issue that happened under warranty).

Sigh...... 😩

Someone said "buy the EcoBoost for extra capability".

I have been asking politely,

WHAT EXTRA CAPABILITY compared to a 4k tow package HYBRID?

Apparently there is NONE other than slightly faster acceleration. Since no one has been able to answer my question.
Tremor and lobo have extra capabilities that hybrid does not have. They come in 2.0 only.

A performance tuned hybrid could be a very interesting street truck or rock crawler. I'm not aware of any technical limitations stopping Ford here, just the will to do so. Maybe the 2.0EB + hybrid powertrain.

Ecoboost vs Hybrid,

Both equally equipped at 6 years old, 120,000 miles.
Value ? Trade in ? Personal sale ?

Which one wins this game ?

I’d assume a difference for an owner in Montana vs a city boy in a major metro.

Penny for your thoughts Boyz ?

As a buyer - I would be extremely wary of either one.

If they both were meticulously maintained, non rust belt, and healthy mileage mix of highway/city - I would chose the EB because it should last another 6yrs/120,000miles. The hybrid battery will need to be replaced to last another 6yrs/120,000.

If any Mavericks reach the status of becoming a “survivor” truck - it will be an EB. Gawd that thing will rattle!

I wish I owned both…. Boy if I did, the Hybrid would be a creampuff and the EB would have been abused and enjoyed. I’d try to find out the battery situation on a hybrid first. Haven’t met anyone yet with blown batteries (including the wife’s 200k piece of poop Prius). The “car” battery has seen a few replacements as it may with both Mavericks.

Watched this one before work this morning, and while no surprises there, I could certainly see how saving a whole gallon every 100miles could easily cover the $1K price gap in just a year or two for many...
At today's fuel prices in mixed driving it would take around 17,000 miles. I got my money's worth in less than 6 months.

I think the EcoBoost is likely to need a transmission before the hybrid needs a battery or perhaps the same time . The hybrid battery commonly lasts over 200,000 miles. I'm guessing the 6 speed will last about the same. Both could last longer. But I imagine the replacement costs could be close or even less for the hybrid battery especially since they will be available on the aftermarket by then

That is why I would be wary of buying either at 6 years old & 120,000 miles:)

The average age of a Maverick Hybrid battery and a Maverick EB transmission are well below 3yrs/50,000miles at this point in time. We’ll see how they hold up at 6yrs/120,000 miles per Cherokee’s hypothetical question;)

Hybrid battery is almost certain to be a 15 year / 250,000 mile one.

Never charges above ~70%.
Never discharges below ~30% unless abused.

40% of the capacity is used on a day to day basis.

It could degrade by 60% and still function.

No data available yet for your conjectures on the Maverick Hybrid. Time & Motion will tell.

Tons of data actually.
The Hybrid Maverick under the hood is not much different than a Hybrid Escape, Hybrid Fusion; or a Rav4 Hybrid for that matter.

I ask again politely - show me a large enough sample of Maverick Hybrids with over 250,000 miles to back up your conjecture.
