Who are those 2 folks that are referenced for "Twitter posting"?
I am not entirly sure I mentioned them both in a tweet. Seem to be prominent social media car guys with solid following. There twitter user names are mentioned somewhere in this thread

The thing is, they may want you to walk so they can inflate the price for the next customer.
I'm thinking this was the dealers plan with the OP. The dealer knows they're not supposed to mark up the special orders via Ford. So they call the OP, tell him there's a mark up, gets him to cancel order and now they have a truck for the lot that CAN be marked up.
If the OP were to raise a stink the dealer would apologize saying a mistake had been made and sell to him per the agreement. There's already a post on here somewhere that the very same thing happened.

Just sent another email to the dealer stating how I believe what you stated was there plan from the start. Awaiting his response.

I picked up my ordered Maverick at AutoNation Ford Frisco TX on 12/13 and paid Invoice price with no-dealer adds or markups.

I did have a signed buyer's order with all costs listed and signed by me and the general sales manager. For reference to others do this now to protect yourself before delivery.

Getting back to AutoNation Ford Frisco I inquired if any other Mavericks were delivered with mine. I was told that only mine and one dealership stock Maverick (sold immediately) were delivered. I asked about what if any markups were on Maverick's. The answer is if your order the Maverick then none, you get it for MSRP. On stock Mavericks no ADM fee but you must purchase the dealer add-ons. I didn't get how much that costs but most are between $1400 to $1800.
Steve,

My truck is in production today 12/15 hope it will get done fast. I ordered my truck from the same dealer Autonation Ford Frisco. How were you able to get it at Invoice price any contact information or tricks that I can use.

I know, I know, I know....... I should have got something signed when I ordered my Mav back in July. I was told in my meeting during ordering that
I was locking in price and would avoid the almost guaranteed rise in value as demand goes up. Waited close to 6 months eagerly checking status of my order dang near everyday. Truck get delivered this morning 12-15-21. Dealership calls this morning to tell me there would be a $4,500 dealer mark up. Being that I am already out of that state due to a military PCS I would already have to buy a $500 plane ticket as well as almost 12 hour drive back to my new home I have decided to back out. So now a beautiful Ford Mav sitting in Altus, Oklahoma at a very crappy dealership of Wilmes Ford. At a awesome $4,500 mark up, which they may change to almost $8,000 as they are telling me they gave me a half off discount on the mark up!!!!!!! How kind of them for thinking of me in doing that!!!! Nope go screw yourself Wilmes Ford of Altus, Oklahoma.

Added in the email I received with explanation.

Call Ford, shame dealership on Reddit, Facebook. If you signed an original order and verified your license, then I don’t think they are allowed to markup. If that doesn’t work, call your state attorney general to file a claim.

I'm sorry to hear that this happened. I'm impressed that @CharlesLupes is taking this so philosophically. But it's still a damned shame that he drew the "dishonest dealer" card.

I've had several exchanges about this issue here on the forum over the last few months. What it always boils down to for me is that the best way to protect yourself is with a Buyer's Order signed by both parties.

Many people on here didn't get one at the time of ordering. But it's possible to go back to the dealer and get one at any time if the dealer is willing to sign. If the dealer will sign, you're in good shape. If the dealer won't sign, that's a hint that you may have trouble.

It surprises me that people have been so resistant to that suggestion. Many say something like "My dealer promised me and he's a straight up guy." But, as we can see, that's not always true. Others make threats like "If they try that on me I'll (whatever)." But I think it's pretty clear that the "whatever" doesn't usually get you the truck.

My point? It's not to late to go see your dealer and get the good or bad news before the truck hits the lot.

I appreciate your words here. The dishonest dealer comes in to play when I met with him originally. He stated how value could go up but I was locked in. And as for the simple fact of going to the dealer in person, my family had to move out of state for the military. I couldn't exactly walk in to ask these questions. Again I get it, I'm screwed. Doesn't change the fact that this dealer is taking my custom order to make a bigger profit by selling it from underneath me.

All that is necessary for unethical dealers to triumph is for good men and women to do nothing. (Yes, I borrowed this from Edmund Burke.)

What can we collectively do to help right this wrong? Surely, as a group, we can bring some focused attention to this, and similar, situations.

Could not agree more. This is a large dealership in a small military town. The family that owns this owns at least one other chevy dealer in this town. The $4,500 mark up at the end of the day most likely means little to them. For me, the markup will have me walking away from a special order truck ive been waiting 6 months for. Then they just sell it to the next guy making there money.

Hi,
I came to order a Maverick b/c of what a crappy dealer did to my order on a Corolla Cross, (Hall Toyota in Virginia Beach)...so it's not the brand of vehicle, It's definitely the dealer.
I am quite sure the ordered mine after a bunch of lies about the price. Then,, when it came in, they sold it. Told me that 'mine' was delayed, even though my exact build was on their lot (with a huge mark-up). Then lied again and 'showed' me my order. Which wasn't my order. Name spelled wrong, wrong color and a very different order date.
I did put a review of Truth for their tactics on Yelp and Google. I feel like people should be warned.

Hybrids are just now hitting the streets. I expect to see a lot more stories like this one.

Very sad...

Another kicker is that in an email after I stated how I felt I was being wronged, the dealer owner said to me that if I back out they will have no problem selling to another person with 1 to 2 days......... confirming the fact they probably had this in mind the entire time my truck was on order
Now that you have it in writing from them you absolutely need to get Ford corporate involved. Let us know what Ford says and if you get a customer service agent that tries to gloss it over ask for a manager.
