Ford Maverick 2024 Tremor Service: PTU/RDU Fluid & Additive Confirmation Tremor Rear End
Working on a maintenance plan for my 2024 Lariat Tremor (2.0L EcoBoost) and need to lock in the exact specs for the PTU and Twin-Clutch RDU. I know the Tremor hardware is unique compared to the standard AWD/FX4, so I want to be 100% sure on the fluid and additives.

Front PTU:

  • Spec: Motorcraft SAE 75W-85 Premium Synthetic Hypoid (WSS-M2C942-A).

  • Capacity: ~0.4 - 0.5 Quarts (12.7 fl oz).

  • Note: I’ve seen reports that the Tremor PTU lacks a traditional drain plug. It looks like you have to remove the two 8mm bolts for the water-to-oil cooler and slide it back to drain the fluid. Can anyone confirm?

Rear RDU (Tremor Twin-Clutch):

  • Spec: Hypoid Oil Ford 75W-85.

  • Capacity: ~0.9 Quarts (28 fl oz).

  • The Additive: Does this RDU require the Motorcraft XL-19 (Torque Vectoring Additive) or XL-3 (Friction Modifier)? I’ve read the Tremor RDU needs roughly a 5% mix of friction modifier to keep the dual clutch packs from chattering.

Has anyone with a Tremor done this lately? Did you add the friction modifier separately, or is a "Limited Slip" gear oil enough for these twin clutches?

Thanks for the link! Looking at those PDFs, it seems they cover the standard AWD Maverick with the Disconnect RDU.
Right. But I think the takeaway was that the fluids are the same regardless. The biggest error there was regarding draining the PTU.

Don't get too caught up on the capacities either. It's a "fill to spill" ordeal.

YES its o ringed 2 bolts and a wiggle and it comes out and just let it drain its easy to do , the rear has 2 plugs , i didnt add any additives in the rear besides the gear oil ( hypoid oil )
