Just wondering how long people's Maverick OLM (oil life monitor) has gone on a hybrid.

My last change was at: 20,900 - current miles: 29,060 = 8,160 miles on oil currently.
OLM estimates 5900 miles to go

Means I could go over 14,000 miles on this oil change! Sweet. We'll see if the estimate holds...

I'm running a Fram XG3614 oil filter - which is good for up to 20k miles.
Oil: Havoline Lifelong 0W-20 - they only "guarantee" it for up to 10k miles. But it meets the Ford hybrid spec WSS-M2C962-A1, so it will last as long as the Ford OLM thinks it should.

5.12 *update* - after a road trip to Yosemite, I'm at 29,999 miles now and 37% oil life, with 5400 remaining estimate = 14,500 for potential oil change interval. So it went UP, with some high speed freeway driving, medium speed foothills and a few short trips around the Valley. (couple pics added to thread)

I did my second full synthetic oil and filter change at just under 13K Miles so about 6,500 miles $135.00 each time at my local dealership

Doesn't scare me, but I would stop at 12K miles and get an engine oil test done on the 12K oil just to see where it stands.
I also run the Fram XG3614 oil filter!

An oil analysis might be a good idea to see what life is actually left in the crankcase...

I have gone 14,000 miles on the oil in my Maverick.

I went 20,000 miles on the oil in my Escape Hybrid.

Both used oil analysis from Blackstone Labs came back as the oil was still good and there were low wear metals and contaminates.

The on board oil life monitor is generally trustworthy and to some degree keeps track of your electric miles which are not putting wear on the oil.

My oil life monitor % drops quickly when I tow a camper. So it knows what's going on. Either by engine RPM's counted or by gallons burned counted.

IE burning gas three times faster makes the oil life drop three times faster. Makes sense when you think about it.

So I can probably correctly assume you are a gentle driver and get higher than 45 MPG as a general rule.

Yes I agree. Do this.

But you MUST pay the $10 extra to get a TBN test. Total Base Number.

The normal oil tests check for the condition of your ENGINE.

TBN tests the condition of your used oil.
So don't skip the TBN test.

You're doing the effort, so do the whole test, not half of the test.

My last fillup, it would only give %, not the estimated distance like time before.

After my last oil change - I had under 10 miles city, then 90 easy miles on highway, in 3 days.
The OLM had me estimated for 5600 oil change at fillup.

I'm convinced that if normal avg driving - OLM is going for 5-6K miles on the engine.
Which is just fine.
Mavster's proven if towing it shortens it greatly.
Another poster proved if great amounts of idling, it shortens it.

I'm guessing you have a decent amount of EV miles, but not near a year yet that it's estimating by time yet.

Bummer we don't get the 25/26 ongoing EV miles stated in the Trip 1/2 logs to know exactly - but I feel fine with 6k on the engine.

I had to get an oil change done in Southeast Florida, went to the Ford dealership's "Quicklane" and they quoted me $129 + tx for the oil change.

When they finished I got the bill and it was only $94 taxes included. I did a double-take and asked if they had used semi-synthetic but the service guy replied immediately "nope, Maverick hybrids can only use FULL synthetic 0W20" and that's what was on the invoice. Definitely NOT complaining but in today's economy it felt weird to get charged 35% less than the quoted price 😄

This thread reminded me of a report Blackstone Labs did a while back.
I can't find the link for test results itself anymore, but the gist is, low mileage oil in the crankcase can remain viable for many years, so it's pretty much a waste to change lightly used oil solely because of the calendar.
Of course for those who worry about maintaining their maintenance schedule on time for warranty implications, that's a different consideration, but based on Blackstone's findings it appears that oil in the crankcase does not degrade over time. Apparently they were surprised by the test results.

I did locate the following link which is an article that summarized the highlight results.

It's the oil contacting air and exhaust gasses that lowers it's life.

Just sitting there, nothing much goes on. Your oil pan is not a lot different than a 5.7 quart jug on the shelf.
🤷🏻‍♂️

Air is only touching the top surface.
It's not being agitated.

How long has it been since last change? Less than a year still?

Longest I’ve gone is 7months on an EB. Might go up to 11 if I had a hybrid:)

Oil Life Monitor:

When I stay mostly on city streets, not loaded, and stay under 60 MPH
OLM drops 7% per 1000 miles.

When I tow my 7x12x9h toy hauler:
OLM drops 20% per 1000 miles.

When I tow my 8x20x9h travel trailer:
OLM drops 29% per 1000 miles.
