This is for basic inventory, but it explains the differences between FIFO and LIFO.

https://www.indeed.com/career-advice/career-development/lifo-vs-fifo
LIFO would/should not apply to the Maverick. These are "made to order", not "stock" units. IF Ford is blocking in any Maverick on any storage lot with a truck that was recently "made to order" that's just WRONG! I see the business logic for stock vehicles but I'm pretty sure I speak for most (if not all) who ordered their Maverick and waiting as patiently as possible that they expect to be treated with respect and for Ford to build and deliver in the order they were received.

It should not, but seems to be the case. Not in this exact meaning, but in my head i see them filling a parking lot, the first ones in are the last to come out. It's not right, but it seems (at least in my head) to be what they are doing. A local person had a week of Sept. 27 build date and took delivery Friday.

This entire process is something I can't seem to wrap my head around.

I was at the Ford dealer yesterday that I bought my truck from, had a tonneau and hood protector installed. I had a good chat with the salesman that I had, asked him how Maverick sales are going. He shared that what they are getting in, were dealership pre-ordered a while back, and, they are generally all spoken for prior to arrival. They had a $45K (Cdn) Lariat that wasn't - it just sold, only took a couple of days. When I arrived they were just unloading a transporter with a Maverick on it (and a Bronco, a couple of F-150s too). That dealership only has about 1/3rd of normal inventory ATM.

My Maverick was delivered last night to the dealership and this morning it shows up on their website…. So it’s a common practice and all vehicles automatically show up online when the dealer receives them into inventory.

I'm seeing them showing up the dealerships in this area too (Michigan). I do know for FACT that dealer stock has come in... and been sold, prior to some retail orders even getting build dates (EcoBoost). The easiest way I've seen to tell if a Maverick is actually for sale is if it has $5k added on for the "Market Adjustment". If it's listed at MSRP, it's most likely a retail order being fulfilled.

Watching/Waiting as I've not gotten a build date, and seriously considering snagging one of the lot if it becomes available and is close to my build.

I've seen this suggestion several times, but as far as I know no one has any real evidence this is happening.

It all seems based on the idea that Ford would pack all the built Mavericks into a lot with only one entrance and then (I suppose) back them out one at a time (LIFO) to ship.

To me, it seems just as likely that they would pack them into a lot with more than one entrance and drive them out in FIFO order.

I don't think anyone really knows. Maybe later we'll have more entries in the spreadsheet showing build date and delivery date and some pattern will emerge.

What's showing on dealer websites probably isn't because the dealership placed stock orders that are getting delivered before retail orders. As has been stated, ANY order shows up on the Ford dealership site as inventory for sale, even when it isn't - and even when it hasn't been delivered yet.

Plus, since Ford isn't filling stock orders, dealership employees now seem to place their own retail orders so that they can get new vehicles to sell. It's a screwy market right now.

are you sure? Here's a link to a search I just did. Notice how many are "Dealer Ordered".

Guessing the dealers want to put all of our orders on their website as click-bait. That way it looks like they have inventory (when they don't), and they can then entice potential customers to contact them. Then they can make their pitch to sell them the loaded Lauriet they do have coming in (at 5K+ over MSRP). Like the rest of you, the wait is killing me. But I'm sure glad I've got an order in for a hybrid and a fixed price!

I'm watching how our local dealerships are doing it - they're advertising inbounds that they pre-ordered, and most sell before they arrive. I snagged one of the very first to arrive, that wasn't spoken for. I called at just the right time, got first test drive. I actually put a deposit down over the phone to reserve it, ensure no one else could scoop it. Good thing, as they quickly had others wanting to test drive it, and it would have sold. I brought a certified bank draft along, intent on buying if I liked it... and I did. There's no negotiating right now - you pay window sticker MSRP. Sellers market.

Out with the old (Nissan Frontier, sold private), and in with the new.

More likely that it's a marketing ploy to bring you in or to make contact so they can sell you something else.

Here's a blue sticker (Stock order) Hybrid Lariat: https://www.windowsticker.forddirect.com/windowsticker.pdf?token=BBi3bYeZc7Lhhdd/koNMvHt0rLGREoXYn73d/p6vyZNhNvgWssblsq+bYwR/gcrV9nzBTBvodQGR1G0IRnpaSOQc0zxJAa2wjmAufIBasGtxeaTpjSlOihP/1zqto7LcSR5Z+5JmB92qVBhEUOh8z4iD5RBPUUuU+KJlWuvWO0Y=

I don't know if it is there or more likely being built or in-transit. But it does look like a Stock order of a hybrid with a window sticker generated.

Here's another, shows in-transit on the dealers website: https://shop.ford.com/inventory/mav...e&Radius=20&Engine=2_5l_hybrid&Order=Distance

I don't think that necessarily true because my dealership had two hybrid XLTs (customers), but they never showed up on the dealer's website to my knowledge. I do check their site daily.
