Been awhile since I’ve opened up forscan but I can take a look
Yeah, if the stereo had only been acting up recently, and you hadn't touched Forscan in a while, that probably wasn't it, but just thought I would ask. Given all the troubleshooting you'd already done, it sounded like the APIM either crapped out, or it was just another weird fluke... a long-lasting fluke, at that. Glad it came back to life!

I have experienced this issue several times. It is a common glitch; having no sound for a short while is not a big deal for me. The issue is resolved at the next drive cycle. It is part of the Maverick experience!
No sound, or no sound and no indication you even have a sound system on the screen?
Kind of a difference.

UPDATE: no sound problem is back!
Anyone have any idea why it would work the other day and now it’s back off again? Has to be a software issue right?

Not if there is a wiring issue, and I mean consistent power and grounds to the module that informs the system you have the hardware. Or the wiring from one module to the other on the network.

If the display info system is doing a check during power on - and doesn't see an audio module, then you would get the effects seen I'd think, no option for it, no settings for it.

ETA:
And a trouble-code check should show an error in the missing module when it happens to come back online - with it complaining of failure to communicate with whatever module.

Like mine once - the FDIM never showed an error:

I tried searching this forum but couldn't find what I was looking for so hopefully this isn't a duplicate.

The other day I got into my truck in the morning, and all of the sudden my audio stopped working completely. I am seeing "Audio Off" where I would normally see my audio source, and the Audio tab on the bottom of the infotainment screen is not selectable. The Sound option is also disabled within the Settings menu. Additionally, the dashboard and steering wheel volume knob/media controls do not do anything.

Based on google searches, I have tried the following with no results:
- Soft Reset (Hold Power and next track buttons until reset)
- Factory Reset (through Sync settings)
- Checked all related fuses (do not see any that are blown)
- Pull the negative terminal on my battery for a few hours and then put it back

So far none of these things have worked so I am not really sure if there is anything else I can try. Unfortunately my truck is out of warranty so I am trying to avoid the dealer if possible.

I have a 2023 Lariat Tremor with only 15.5k miles (warranty expired Dec 2025)

Any help would be appreciated!
I may not be able to help you but I have had issues with loss of sound and other functions in the last few years with various components. What you might try is pulling the related fuses and disconnect all power to your unit, let it set for 20 minutes and then plug it back in. My current gadgets often respond to hard reset. Won't cost anything to try it.

This issue just happened to me on 4/7 on 2022 Lariat. I've done everything you have tried to no avail either. I had extended my warranty so I am scheduled to go in on 4/13. I have not checked the fuses yet, but that is something I plan on looking at tonight though.

Were you ever able to figure it out?

so it randomly came back and was working for like a week but then the same issue just happened where I have the audio off error for the last 4-5 days. Probably no relation at all, but each time I got the error was the morning after a thunderstorm/heavy rain

Not getting an error just not able to click or operate any audio at least for me. My luck if it starts working, it will be when I have to take it in on Monday. I also messaged rugedraw to see if they are able to locate the error. Would be cool to see at least what might be going on before I go in.

Any dampness around the dash or low on the firewall, more so the passenger side?
No - not on mine. It's also been dry out where I live and its been in garage. It was just working on Sunday no issue.
