I wonder what would the other guys layer say if you get involved in an accident with a 2k Tremor towing close to 4k, that is going to hurt and leave a mark in your account.
Seems you don't understand what is different between the versions of the trucks.

I did ask to confirm, was told the tremor only comes with 2k towing. It is 4K?

Tremors and Lobos are 2k. Im not 100% but I believe it has something to do with the rear differential setup having clutches in it.. (Ok I know its not a differental per se, but you get the jist) It might be suspension too?

That's why I did order a Lariat, what's the point on having a Tremor if I will never go offroad, but do like to have the 4K, Will guess the Lariat rides smoother too.

Don’t know about the lobo differential,
Then there’s the fact that the raised/higher Tremor would be a bit less stable towing 4K

And the lower Lobo is a bit less truck capable.
Plus was it second gear that was disabled so the lobo could be a seven speed with paddle shifters.
4K going from 1st gear to 3rd, not gonna pull the two tons without far more strain on the tranny when doing that shift.

Oh yes, that is true. The lobo has a different gearbox.
I know for the tremors they have a clutch based limited slip system in it. How it works is wizardry so far as I know. Lol

I towed a 9x12 with my 22 hybrid for a few hundred miles and it did just fine. Biggest concern was going through some deep flooding on some curvy mountain roads, but all went well. It was probably ~2,500lbs (so slightly overweight) but I took it easy, didn't rush and California won't let me go over 55mph while towing anyway (it did fine at 60 the whole way). Surge brakes were jerky when coming to a complete stop at a stoplight, but felt good through the mountains.

If I recall, on the Tremor, the springs are longer and a little softer, made more to deal with suspension travel and uneven terrain. Yes, it sits slightly higher than the normal Maverick, but I think the payload is less on the Tremor also, by a few hundred pounds (probably a result of the softer spring rate). I believe that there are similar towing reductions on Ranger and F-150 Tremor models, though both of those obviously can tow more than the Maverick.

There may be consideration, also, that the tire diameter on the Tremor is a bit larger, meaning a little less torque advantage.

Right, and I ‘Think I remember reading that the final drive ratio was a tad shorter on the Tremor likely to comp for the taller tires ?

Softer springs while towing, yeah I can see that.

Air bags remedy that issue
Naw :) If I planned on regularly towing anything, I would not have gotten a Tremor. I have a roof top tent that has taken up permanent residence in my truck bed (see profile pic). If I want to do any "truck bed" stuff in my truck, I just borrow my Dad's little 4x11 trailer. Besides this one little goof off thing I did, my Dad's trailer is the only thing I have ever towed with my truck.

It's the same gearbox, it just had 2nd gear disabled.

The clutch based limited slip isnt that crazy. There's 2 clutches, one for each rear axle, and the tremor can engage 1 or both to force power to one or both wheels "locking" the differential, or slip them for partial power delivery. The normal Mav has an open rear end and uses brake modulation to control wheel slip.

The Tremor also uses a water cooled PTU instead of an air cooled one to prevent overheating when off roading.

This is why the Lobo and Tremor can only tow 2k, that clutched rear end is great at performance on and off road, but it was built for the Focus RS, the clutches likely cant take the weight of a 4k trailer without constant slipping which would produce a bad driving experience at best or early failure at worst, compared to the open geared rear end of normal mavericks that can take the weight but cant direct power.

Even if, on paper, the two trucks are similar enough, the tremor is still only rater for 2k, and if the insurance finds you you were towing 4k with it, they can deny your coverage and leave you to the wolves.

Why do people make this assumption?
I have asked for proof of this happening for 25 years. Not a single confirmed case.

Absence of proof is not proof of absence. But come on.

At least there are photographs of Bigfoot.
