Hmmmm??? My backup 22 xlt lux pkg may get to 7,000 miles on it in 3 months or so. (About 230 miles were put on it driving to dealership to get recalls and oil changes). 😳

My VIN and plate bring up an XL instead of a Lariat and there is no way to change the trim manually. I have zero interest in selling. Was just curious.

Just checked the value of my 22 XLT hybrid with 49K miles and it's worth 22K. It also stated my hybrid is in demand

Just for shits and grins did it and they are offering me 25,600 for my 2024 XLT Hybrid. No intention on selling but is only about 2K deprecation for each year from what I paid. But I also got the 5 year maintenance package so all my oil, filters, wipers are covered and done for a $0.00 charge at my Ford dealer. So no thoughts on selling till at least that runs out. But was interesting to see how the value has held up.

We traded in our original '22 Mav hybrid to Carvana back in late 2024, and put in an order for the same in a '25 model. After almost three years and 25K miles they paid us what we originally bought the truck for. Incredible how it kept its value, and we were able to start the new vehicle warranty again with some additional bells and whistles. Yours is a lot more recent than our situation but it is still tempting, I can tell.

my sister (KC area) got more from her local Subaru dealer than either carmax or carvana for '22 Lariat with 14k miles by about $1500 for a trade - I know trade can make a difference but you might check local dealerships if you plan to trade

Just checked and Carvana's offer on my XLT Ecoboost came in at 20,800. Paid 24,900. I have had truck for over 3 years and 40k miles. Not bad at all for a base XLT!

Plugged mine in just to see. Not as good of an offer. '24 EcoBoost XLT w/ 4k tow package, lux interior, bedliner, and tonneau cover. Just hit 15,000 miles. I wonder how much the local market plays into what they offer? They offered $3,000 more if I said I was in Dallas as opposed to eastern Oregon. I'm sure they have all sorts of data to support what each trim level is going for in local markets.

Well, no. Because you have to account for the inflation of the dollars you paid in 2022 to the current value of those dollars in 2026. And then you have to account for replacement cost of a 2026 hybrid. People on this forum make this basic financial mistake all the time.

So assuming you paid $21,500 OTD in 2022 dollars for your base hybrid XL in 2022, you paid $24,900 in 2026 dollars. So just on an inflation basis your depreciaation over three years is more than double what you think ($25K - $17.5K = $7.5K or $2,500 a year). And of course you paid taxes and registration and dealership paperwork, unless your dealer was a saint.

But then you have to factor in replacement cost. Today a base hybrid is $30,700 OTD - and that's before taxes, dealership costs, registration. So the real depreciation on your vehicle, when considering both inflation and replacement cost, is your current trade value subtracted from the new acquisition price ($30.5K - 17.5K = $13K), or closer to $4,000 a year.

Hopefully I did all that math in my head correctly. At 70, I'm prone to mental boo-boos .
If we're going to get pedantic about it - and I'm about to - I think you're double-counting by using depreciation, inflation, and current day replacement cost.

If you're replacing a used vehicle, on which you've paid depreciation on - the equivalent would be the same, used vehicle at whatever today's market value is.

What is the cost of a used 2022 Maverick vs how much can you sell yours for? That's equivalent replacement cost.

A new vehicle (with the upgrades that have happened, plus some downgrades / cost cutting) with 0 miles and a factory warranty is not replacing your current one - it is upgrading it. Your registration and insurance will be higher for a reason - the new vehicle is worth more!

Oh, and I checked too - My Maverick and our Sienna are both worth more than a few months ago.
It's almost like skyrocketing gas prices have made hybrids more valuable and inflation is rearing up again

I sold my 2022 XL Hybrid to Carvana last month. It had 47,000 miles. They paid $19,400 for it with minor scrapes and bumps on the side and frontal desert road rash. Original purchase price was $21,595. That is the strongest resale experience of any vehicle I have owned in my life. They listed it in days for $24,995 and it sold immediately.

I checked mine on Carvana this morning because I'm curious now.

2022 XLT FX4 4K Tow in like new condition with 46k miles, my offer from them was $23,600. Honestly not bad. Thought it would've been a little lower from them. This tells me that I could put it on Marketplace and make a private sale in my area for over $25k. I absolutely guarantee that. Truck was $30k OTD for me in November 2022.

I paid 38,300 for mine. 14 months and 14k miles later to only have lost 1,100 in value?! That’s insane.
In October of 24 I sold my 23 hybrid XL for $600 more than I paid, and I paid sticker. 13 months and 28,000 miles.

Waited 6 months, found the exact AWD Hybrid 4K tow XL I wanted for $2,450 off. A new 26 with the same options is $35K. I paid under $30k.

Carvana always pays more then the others because they know what sells. Carvana makes their money on financing, so they pay more to get vehicles that buyers want, and sell them with little profit.
Right.
At 9-18 % intrest they can sell for what they paid.

"Almost like." It's the next week or two that the price of everything shipped by truck is going to hit us and bend us over the log.

Diesel is almost $6/gal around here. Worse than it was in 2022, even adjusted for inflation.
