I've had plug in hybrids, hybrids, and pure ev's. They all do things differently and their ranges on electric vary wildly. Of the three, I prefer the plug in Prius I have now a little more than my hybrid Maverick. It lets me do my city driving (over 90 per cent of what I do) electric. Or, I can hop in and drive it 7000 kms if I want. I like the Maverick because, again, I do mostly city driving and get great fuell economy and the occasional smooth electric episode.
The only Maverick I would move up to would be a plug in hybrid because it suits how I use a vehicle.
Ford doesn't offer such a thing which is too bad in my opinion. They do offer some plug in hybrids, but are cautious because the future of their whole industry cannot be predicted. You can't raise money without solid reasoning and that is no longer possible.

That being the case why doesn't the Jeep 4xE with a larger battery do the same, they're lucky if they squeeze 20-23 miles on the charge.I will say I've had my mav for about a month and haven't refueled yet lol
Because the Jeep is doing the miles continuous. Regular hybrids mix short distances of gas & electric as required by power demand & battery state of charge.

Perfect example of why even at 10k miles - engine and oil has only seen 5k.
Curious what your OLM % is at?
And that is within a year's time?
current mileage 11,436mi
oil life 79% (i assume the dealer resets it, this is the 1st time i paid attention to it)
2nd oil change 1/10/2026 at 9,421mi
picked it up with 27 miles on 1/18/2025

Well - ontrack for another 10k OLM if it comes in under a year at least.
Nice with the 24 Lariat/25/26's - getting overall EV miles stated on trips.

I can go ~3.5 miles on level ground at 25 MPH and under between engine starts.

On a downhill I have gone more than 9 miles between engine starts.
I'd be interested in a video if you can. My 2025 will barely squeak in 2 miles on a down slope with a 15 minute pre-idle to charge up.

Everything has to go exactly right which is rare.

Hardest thing for me is finding 3.5 miles of road with low speed, without traffic, stops, or other interference.

I do have a scan gauge which helps a lot.
It tells me when the battery is full and empty and everything in between. If you can't do it; most likely you are not starting out with a "full" battery. You have to go through some shenanigans to get the truck battery completely full, and then take it to completely empty. I've only done it circling laps around a mall parking lot just to prove I could.

The truck is biased to keep the battery "in the middle" most of the time so while it has puny capacity to begin with, most drivers only use half of that puny amount.

On a side note, when I ran out of gas I can verify the battery got me 12-14 miles or so to the next gas station.

Are you referring to the "Miles to Empty" indicator reaching zero?

It is quite feasible to run lot of miles on gas past computer "empty".

I've gone 65 miles past the computer guess of empty. There's more gas in the tank than the computer knows of.

The Maverick shows total miles and electric miles. What I don't know is whether that electric miles is electric only. If 20 miles electric and 60 total miles is that indicating the ICE was only on for 40 miles?

Or is there some overlap during acceleration where you get power from both? So maybe 45 miles ICE and 20 miles electric in that 60.

ICE was on for 40 miles only.

It is showing electric miles = miles with the gas engine not running.

Overlap miles are called hybrid miles which is all 40 of your 60 in the example.

In my example below, which was downhill, my engine was completely off for 10.6 miles and about 80% of the elapsed time.

It used about a shot glass of fuel.

Interesting thread, mine seems to go a mile or so then ICE comes back on. Would be curious if anyone has ran out of fuel and battery and if there was a way to get the battery charged with outside source ( solar or generator) to get to a gas station. And to charge the EV battery would you need to disconnect it to charge it

It'd be remarkable to get more than 2 miles in full EV mode on level ground. If I was feeling froggy I'd run some numbers just to figure out the theoretical maximum. Someone has probably already run the numbers though and I'm not feeling froggy 😆
It was a gradual slope all the way. One traffic light that I timed by slowing down then down another grade before I had to turn right up a hill.

Yeah. When I'm trying to get 100% I'm surprised at the drivers behind me trying to race up to the red light.
Noted here also. Why is that a thing? Do they not see more than 10 feet in front? Do they think they have some kind of magical power that will turn the light green when they get there? I also see the same thing when upcoming traffic is showing all brake lights. These idiots just keep their higher speed until they come up to your bumper. Truly bewildering.
