First Time Seeing Orange Fury 2026 Maverick!

In the early 70's, the story goes that the late Ritchie Evans of NASCAR open wheel modified (Northeast division) was repainting his race car and a "shop friend" that hung out at his garage also was employed for the Rome NY Dept of Public Works and somehow, a gallon or two of the Orange Paint they used to paint the trucks mysteriously arrived at the shop for use....a legend was born...The Rapid Roman. Between he and Jerry Cook #38 (another famous open wheel modified driver from Rome NY and my childhood neighbor) they dominated the division from the early 70's up to 1985 when Rich was killed at Martinsville Speedway and Jerry had previously retired.

I decided to swing by my local Ford dealership to see what they had. To my surprise, they had 17 Mavericks for sale! 15 new, 2 used. Also, I got to see the new Fury Orange on it for the first time! Not just one but a few! I don't how I feel about it. I feel like it would get old pretty quickly. It almost looks like a Tonka truck. I still haven't seen them in the wild yet. What do you think?

I could see Caltrans buying a fleet of Mavericks that color.

Seriously that's what I think of when seeing Fury Orange. I like Cyber Orange much better because it's not so "orangey" and seems more yellowish-orange to me. There is an MTC member with a Cyber Orange Maverick that he turned into a Tonka-themed truck, which looks really terrific, thread below:

I was going to say that but the last time I did I got yelled at by someone who really, really, really loved the color in question.
Now you could do your own decals/pinstripe/wrap and give it personal touch.

I believe Tonka trucks would be yellow. There is a member on here with that theme going on his yellow Maverick.

Personally that color is ugly.

Yeah, true. But now that many have mentioned it, it does look more on the spectrum of a DOT vehicle. That'll be great for ones who do end up buying it for that purpose and don't have to go to the trouble of wrapping it. It's already done from the factory!

Great color! I had a 1959 orange Plymouth Fury in high school that looked a lot like this photo.

As others have noted, it totally looks like a DOT or utility company truck.

When Ford introduced the "Grabber" colors for the 1969 Boss 302 Mustang, Larry Shinoda picked them from Ford's fleet paint colors.

Not a fan myself, but I know there are those Boise State Bronco fans who would add some blue to off set that orange and viola! They would be some happy campers. Or, should I say, some happy "tailgaters"!
