Be careful when doing that. Ford may choose not to reimburse if you had the axles replaced AFTER they issued the bulletin. Why not have the control arm replaced at an independent dealership then take it to another Ford dealership to replace the axles. ?
I took the Maverick to the independent repair shop and they confirmed that there was no damage to either control arms. They then test drive and confirmed that the axles are vibrating. Then the shop owner wrote on the ticket that they found no damage and sent me to a different Ford dealership to have them look at replacement of the drive shafts. I then went to the second dealership and they have set an appointment for Tuesday next week.

The shop owner is a friend of mine and he also popped the truck on his alignment rack and found it was completely within tolerances. I offered to pay additional for it and he said I paid for the alignment last year and it was a lifetime of vehicle alignment. So I basically paid for a 1/2 hour of shop time. The shop owner also took pictures of the entire underside of the Maverick

I am still boiling mad at the attempt to make my wallet lighter I will wait until I get the review notice from the first dealership and then decide what to say about trying to write up unneeded "repairs"

I wanted to share that the axles in my 2023 Maverick Hybrid were replaced today.

After reading about various axle issues, I asked the service representative at the Ford dealership to have a technician inspect them during my routine 5,000-mile service and oil change yesterday. Although I wasn't experiencing any problems, the technician recommended the replacement while the vehicle was still under warranty. They ordered the parts and completed the work today.

The truck is driving well, and I am glad the service team took the initiative to replace them, especially since my 60,000-mile powertrain warranty was set to expire in approximately 300 miles.

I have attached a photo of the replaced parts. I attempted to look up the part numbers to see if they are the updated versions, but I couldn't find a definitive answer. If anyone has information regarding these part numbers, I would greatly appreciate any insight.

Thank you

I'd hoped that I was wrong. But I suspected as much since you didn't mention having an accident. And we hardly ever see damaged lower control arms on the Escape, Bronco Sport, Maverick platform. We sometimes get customers who come for a 2nd opinion when they were suspicious of what was told them by a nearby dealership. Sometimes the other dealership was correct. Sometimes it was an honest difference of opinion based on a judgement call. Sometimes it was a misdiagnosis but not intentional. But sometimes it was an obvious attempt at ripping the customer off. THAT'S the one that truly bothers me. It appears that the original dealership was attempting to do just that. Glad the Independent shop and 2nd dealership appear to be honest.

I did not state it but my original profession was as a heavy line mechanic from 1976-1986, From 1976 to 1983 in the Air Force and then 1983-1986 at a Chrysler Plymouth dealership then I retrained to be a aircraft mechanic for the next 32 years at Boeing and the thing was when I got that diagnoses it sent me a red flag as I have more knowledge and all this guy was seeing possible dollars from a elderly guy or if it is the service campaign poor pay for warranty.

If my Maverick had the damage that was described there is going to be uneven tire wear, the truck would have pulling to one side and hard to control driving down the road. MY MAVERICK HAD NONE OF THESE. The front tires have even wear (65%) the vehicle tracks straight and truer then the 2018 Chevrolet Equinox diesel I had before and it had even tire wear. Just because I came in and am dressed in a nice polo shirt and slacks doesn't mean I have not done that type of work. I see red really fast when I know something heck if Ford would give me the drive axles I pop them in myself as I know how to do it and I have the tools to do the work in my home shop. But since I am retired and it is a service campaign that Ford is willing to pay why not let them do it.

My dealer installed one of these under his check-in awning drive thru in Jan 2026.

Good work! Here's to that other dealership coming thru and fixing the problem with no cost to you. Yeah that shaking is annoying to say the least, when I got mine replaced and got it back it was amazing how smooth everything was - just like when the truck was new.

do you have a written estimate from the first shop? if they only said those things to you in person or on the phone, then you're probably at a dead end other than review bombing them.

Oh yes I have the written estimate And it was over $2,500.00 plus $200.00 for dianostic fee. It is my ammo I intend to use

It's crazy . The more I think about it. The more frustrated I get. This wasn't just incompetence (bad enough). But was an outright attempt at fraudulent behavior. Also. Even IF you had control arm issues, our dealership we would have charged only for the control arm and still have done the axles under warranty. Also, the person who attempted to get over on you isn't doing so because they think you have money. I can almost guarantee would have no problem taking advantage a poor widow on a fixed income who'd have to forego her medication in addition to getting a loan they could not afford in order to pay for the unnecessary repairs. 😤. They have no conscience.
