Luckily like all stealers he lied to me about pricing and tried to force a bunch of dog sh•t dealer add ons in the deal. Once again I walked out pissed off. Stealers are terrible.
The dealer I went to was up front, no tricks, no drama, no last minute add on's in the finance dept.
The only item that changed was for the registration, for a couple of dollars and it was noted up front as a estimate.
Just because some dealers are bad doesn't mean all are bad.

Good for you. This has not happened for me in the last 35 years. All crooks.

Maybe that's a Florida thing.
Again, just because you have had bad dealer experiences, doesn't mean all dealers are bad, anymore than I can say that all are good, but I've had a lot better luck than you apparently...

Wrong, competition or not,
Ford Chose to be a Truck Dealer and leave the shitty little Chinese car market. Ford couldn't compete there or with the quality Nippon companies.

Ford knew better than to try and make profitable cars that would compete with the Honda Accord
Or the Very successful Toyota Camry, Nissan Maxima.
Key Word, 'Profitable'

Ford will continue to upgrade All their models.
R&D Is expensive yes, but to stop or even fall behind in the auto, or most any Industry
leads only to failure.

I don't want to Live in a world without Ford.
Or GM,
Screw Dodge. :'P

in case you havent noticed at big lumber they shuttle the salespeople around to different depts, its like they expect the salespeople to learn something about what they are trying to sell,at one stealership I noticed an elderly salesman had a poster of Danica Patrick taped to the wall, guess he was doing his homework.( and beware that plastic new car gunk they spray in a used vehicle, yech)

Seems you delight in asking questions when already knowing the answer. When I was working for 42 years for the same company we had a name for people like that and it was not complimentary. No I am not SHOCKED because her job is to SELL not know the technical details. I have HIGH standards from REAL professionals NOT from a job anyone with a GED can get and does!
I expect someone exists on a certain level when selling or offering a product. Widgets or tires doesn't make a difference and especially something which isn't a throwaway good. Nothing crazy. Nothing like asking the plug gap or what material makes up the air filter or something insane. My time is valuable.

In forty-two years at the same company and you don't think people should have a certain level of knowledge of what is being sold? We're not talking about a buy here, pay here or everyone is approved joint or a guy selling cheap steaks in a parking lot. We have a special name for people like you too, friend.

In business, especially in a place like a reputable Ford or GMC or Chevrolet dealer, "I don't know" or "Hmmm" is not the answer. The correct answer: I don't have the answer to that question, but I will find out right now. Even a Home Depot or Lowe's isn't much different. Does this dryer have a steam function? Not perplexing by a long shot. You're in the plumbing section, well, can you point me in the direction of toilets with a 10in rough in? Again, not difficult. Then again, if you require assistance, you don't ask the person who looks and acts as if he doesn't even know which hemisphere he is in.

You are living decades in the past. Things that used to be considered a cost of doing business have been dumped to increase profits. Companies do not invest in employee training at all. And many car dealerships no longer offer sales commissions. You demand that salespeople invest their own time to make your buying experience more pleasurable.

If you know more than the salesperson does, you should be able to use that to your advantage in negotiating price.

But hey, just refuse to buy from anyone who doesn't pass your knowledge test. Surely that will teach them. Good luck finding someone you can buy from, though.

Having reasonable knowledge on vehicles, what's on the market or what have you, one didn't have to go to school or training to figure it out or is it just that people have set their standards extremely low? I would bet a number of people on here have knowledge on all sorts of things that didn't necessarily come from a place of higher education or specialized training. One should never apologize or feel wrong for having reasonable expectations and I agree it can be difficult finding businesses with people knowing what they are doing. You might have to do some leg work but it's out there and those are the ones who deserve your business.

An excellent point. If you depend on a salesperson for knowledge about everything that is sold, prepare to be disappointed. His job is selling a vehicle, which does not congruently align with everything you want or need. To expect a salesperson to act against their own interests is naive.

They are more than happy to convince you that truck on the lot is what you want.
If you don't seem to know, that is the fault of the buyer, not the seller.

In my case I did a lot of research before I ever went for a test drive, and I knew what I wanted in trim levels and options before I ever set foot on the lot. I also knew that the ~ local dealer I went to was highly rated, and had been in business since 1912.
Most dealers were spotty at best ratings wise.

I needed the sales associate to get the keys, go on the test drive and to give me a price on the vehicle I wanted, and he did that.

The fact that he was able to find exactly what I wanted when no other dealer in the 5 states around me seemed to have was a pleasant surprise.

Likely the fact that I knew what I wanted provided him with some incentive, but regardless it worked out well for me.
I've had good luck buying cars over the years, but then I also know how to walk away from a deal I don't like, and that's a good mindset to insulate you from high pressure sales tactics.

You don't have to apologize, but you should expect to be disappointed. Your expectations are not in line with current reality. The sad part is that you will blame the salespeople, not the corporations that refuse to nurture their employees in any way.

I agree with being disappointed. Hope for the best but expect the worst? I hate to say workers in general but a lot of them don't take pride in their work anymore and that has nothing to do with a corporation. You either have it or you don't. When you go to "insert name here" and you see the guy who has been there selling cars since Reagan was president, you know he's the guy.

Edit: Another problem is how people think the internet automatically makes them an expert or highly knowledgeable on a certain topic and as difficult as it is for some, sometimes you need the answer(s) from someone else maybe from a person in that field.
