That appears to be a nice distance between the rear wheel well and the bumper. Either a great disguise or that truck had a bigger bed IMO.
The art of the camouflage. A few well placed blocks of foam create illusions.

Yeah, but it is pressed into the metal - so is Ranger and F150 as well...

The Maverick of the 70's era was a great little car. Remember in the early 70's we has a gasoline problem. I had a big Pontiac Gran Prix with a 400 ci engine which got 10mpg, and my wife had a 71 maverick stick shift, 6 cyl, 27+ mpg, life saver. There were times you could only buy gas on odd, and even last number days, on your license plate, and only $10 worth. Might as well put the Pontiac up on blocks until things got better!
I remember those days , even/odds...long lines...going to the station at 9pm at night...I had a little Mercury Capri ('72), spiffy little car got decent MPG. And coincidentally my Dad had the same Gran Prix that you reference...in a rather ugly brown color with a white roof.

You can always spot a maverick by it's off center rear license plate. Just check any auto parts store, every one has at least 1 maverick delivery wagon.
This is exactly what got me hooked on the Maverick. My son's company has four or five as company vehicles and I've been doing some odd jobs for them (as a retiree) where the company car/truck was required. This is why I joined this forum and will very likely get me one later this year once my older F150 is fully restored. I will always need a full size pickup in my fleet BUT would like a newer 'fuel efficient" daily driver with modern safety features to use on a regular basis. That WILL be my future Maverick

Yes, you mean “your” Tremor doesn’t have the official 震颤 (Tremor in mand.) decal on the side?

Ford did a great job with Maverick styling. From a distance it looks like an F-150.
I think that's part of the reason for it's success vs the Santa Cruz. On paper the Santa Cruz is competitive with the Maverick and even exceeds it in some areas. But the Maverick looks, feels, and drives like it's the f-150s baby brother. If that was the target, Ford hit the bullseye. It looks enough like a smaller f150 without looking EXACTLY LIKE a smaller f150.

Back in the day when I got my first Maverick that I waited 8 months, everybody made fun of me because being in the industry for 40/50 years [ can't remember am old] I always told family and friends never buy first year model am glad I was Wrong I loved that truck don't drive much anymore 5/7k a year, That 22 FX4 LUX with all the options was great, had some radio problems that's it! getting back to my point, I could drive for weeks and not see another Maverick, people would stop me at lights and ask what is it who makes it, is it a custom truck, I would say do these people live in caves they don't read or watch TV, even the sales people knew nothing about it.
In 25 I sold that truck and got a 25 Lariat hybrid black package 4ktow with a sunroof and features that only that come in 60/70k cars/trucks a no brainer, and they laughed again and said you paid 43k sticker it was 39,500 employe pricing, for a 20k truck, than when they compare the features to their 50/60k cars or trucks they don't have half of them. The average new car price is 50/k. BTW I see at least 3/4 mavericks a day now and I don't drive much why because they sold 150k this year.

Back in the mid to late 60s a neigbor boy who was about 6 years my senior had a 4 track player in his car. I can't remember what car he had but that 4 track player was just too cool. I installed 25, give or take, of those 8 track players for different friends....and pretty young girls. LOL

I was the guy who bought the Radio Shack Realistic dual-head 8-track “and” cassette player for my car. I was the smart guy that had both technologies covered for the future of mobile listening. 🤔 Correction….. I was the dummy that bought……!

Let me take this one one bad step further. This was installed “under” the drivers seat of a 1972 VW Beetle Convertible (so I keep the car looking original). THEN I found an FM module that was powered by the 8-track player. Just insert and connect the antenna cable. I liked changing stations while, steering, shifting, eating, or scraping ice off the inside of my front window.
