Had one in one of my cars. Does that make me an antique 😂

Uhm . . . I'd had it for a couple of weeks before it occurred to me it should have one.

So whatdoegs owning a '72 Eldorado Convertible with an 8 track (you push it through the dial, which flips up) make me?

😲

Ford should send us all something when they hit that milestone.
SHHH!!

Ir will probably be a bill1

This thread really shows the diversity of owners Ford has attracted (great news for marketing ). I (being a confessed car nut ) find it hard to believe that Mavericks were not on everyone's radar as a new , innovative ,economical vehicle -I wanted one since day one , but had just bought a new Mustang and couldn't quite swing 2 car payments . Three years later my hunt was on and then waiting almost a year to find an available Hybrid to actually test drive-drove an EB ,but decided to hold out for a Hybrid-thankful I did . Has been my favorite vehicle ever since !
I did the same thing, test drove a LOBO, and bought a Hybrid XL AWD. Sport Mode on this Hybrid has some punch! I personally don't miss the traditional shifting at all.

Welcome to the Maverick Truck Club forum from Alaska!

Please post pictures of your Maverick. :camera:
I can't wait to take some good pictures. The day after I picked it up it snowed hard and heavy, roads are still a mess and will be for a while. So my beautiful truck isn't up to a photo shoot just yet lol and that's after I was outside yesterday in sub 30 degree temps hosing it off. 🥶

Before last fall I had no idea the Maverick PU existed until I learned of it from a friend that has one . I began searching every dealer in NJ for a Hybrid Lariat and NO ONE had one. Plenty of XLs & XLTs on the lots. Several tried to talk me into ordering the Lariat or getting an XLT but I wanted the (IMHO) better trim package before Christmas. I ended up finding what I wanted in PA. Made a couple phone calls and 4 days later, drove home in a Ruby Red Lariat Hybrid. So far, I think I made the right choice.
If your happy, then you made the right choice!

you wouldn't have like them...they LOVED to rust like most of that era's rides....
The Maverick of the 70's era was a great little car. Remember in the early 70's we has a gasoline problem. I had a big Pontiac Gran Prix with a 400 ci engine which got 10mpg, and my wife had a 71 maverick stick shift, 6 cyl, 27+ mpg, life saver. There were times you could only buy gas on odd, and even last number days, on your license plate, and only $10 worth. Might as well put the Pontiac up on blocks until things got better!

I must have been living under a rock these last few years but until a month ago I never heard of the Maverick PU. Sure I heard of the Maverick car of the 70s but not this. I've been driving a Ram1500 Laramie Crew Cab w/6'4" bed for the past ten years. Since I no longer really needed something so large that averaged around 12 mph (99% local driving) I started looking for something with good fuel economy. Searching for options I came across the hybrid Maverick and it was love lol. This does everything I need in a very efficient and practical way. 3 weeks later I bought a 2025 XLT hybrid w/co-pilot, lux package in Ruby Red metallic. My RAM drove like the Mercedes Ml suv I traded in for it and still did 10 years later. The Maverick doesn't drive quite as smoothly but I have no complaints with how it drives. So happy I found it and the board.
what kind of rock were you under? Basalt, Sandstone, Granite???

I knew what a Maverick was before it was shown. When it was just a bad mule vehicle that resembled a van. Then the tailgate was shown in a leaked pic was shown, and we knew it was a pickup. Then the heavily camouflaged prototype pics like below were released.

I wanted one from the beginning, but wanted to check out one in person. Never did get to see one, and the model year was closed. Didn't see one until AFTER I ordered my 2023.

Waited 11 months for that one. Sold it 13 months later. Then waited for a good deal on my 2025.

Very happy with the 25. Finally got the color Hybrid I wanted, plus AWD 4K.

That appears to be a nice distance between the rear wheel well and the bumper. Either a great disguise or that truck had a bigger bed IMO.
