There are a lot of people out there who fix their vehicle short term and then sell them to Carmax, Carvana etc.

I think that applies to ANY used car purchased anywhere.

I sold CarMax a Ford Flex with a check engine light with ECU memory fault...lol. You couldn't clear the fault so light was on and I was very transparent with them about it. Obviously I didn't get top dollar for it but I got what I needed and it was easier for me than to fix it just to sell it. It required an new ECU and a dealer to bypass the security software Ford has on the car that only the dealer could do. Let's just say the dealer quote was very high.

Sold a Mazda 3 via KBB. Got 1500 more than anyplace else and it was a painless process.

Was it the KBB instant price option? I bought my Mustang from a dealer who got it via that.

How many miles did you flat tow it? I wouldn’t buy a used vehicle that I knew had been.

If they are offering you 32K they know they can get more than that. Every area the prices are a little different. My good friend just bought a Santa Cruz with 5000 miles 2 days ago and paid 34K. And drove 3 hours 1 way to get it. Said he wanted a Maverick hybrid but said he could not find one fully loaded with low miles under $40K. I would first try to sell it yourself for couple thousand more. See how it goes. Money talks bullshit walks.You dont need to put up with any BS. List price as firm. If after a few weeks you can change your mind and sell it to Car Max or someone else.

It was never towed. We had planned to pull behind the motorhome. But then work got crazy and Ford came out with my green dream color so we purchased a 25 Lariat Hybrid in AWD with 4K tow. It was delivered yesterday from a dealer in Florida. We could not find one in Texas. It was not on my purchase list until Ford dropped the green color in the 26 model year.

Historically I have had good experiences with CarMax. Last month I sold my 2015 Escape to buy my MaVerick. I got the highest offer from CarMax. Then I went to Edmunds to check values. It asked me if I wanted 3 offers. I said yes. The highest was, you guessed it, Carmax. But this is the kicker, The Edmunds/Carmax offer was 20% higher than the CarMax direct quote. I sold it CarMax for the higher offer. Try Edmunds. It can't hurt.

Thank you for the suggestion. I tried Edmunds for the three offers and sure enough it came back $400 higher than the CarMax direct offer. It also came up with a local dealer willing to buy it for the same price.

Greetings all I need to sell my 2024 Ford Maverick Terrain Lariat Hybrid. Includes moon roof. It has 1413 miles on it and was delivered in November of 2023. Garaged since new and no damage or accident history with clean title. Car Max is offering 32K here in south central Texas. It comes with a Demco mounted flat towing baseplate. Would you guys take that offer or try to sell retail?

Have Carvana make an offer.

Carmax's offer on my 2022 Hybrid was over $6000 less that what I sold it for to Carvana.

Why aren’t you moving the baseplate to the new one?

We purchased a Can Am Ryker trike about a year ago and wanted to take that with us during our travels. So opted for an aluminum open car hauler that could transport both the Maverick and Ryker.
I could be wrong here but I think you have to buy an updated base plate kit for the 25 model year as Ford changed the front end.

Edmunds 3 offer option is the cheapest value out there. I've used it a few times to get the best price for a new vehicle. I had 3 dealers in a bidding war with each other thru emails before I ever stepped on the lot and finalized the deal.
