The fuel tank in HYBRIDS is at minimum 16.5 gallons. There's lots of threads about it.

I have personally put in 16.5 gallons once, 15.x gallons quite a few times, and 15.0 just yesterday and I was not even all the way to empty yet.

It's been proven that 13.8 is just the value the computer uses to calculate your range. It's way conservative. But rest assured you'll always have at least 13.8 gallons to use, but usually more.

In the computer, it's always 13.8 x recent (100 miles) MPG x fuel sensor level = miles to empty.

Yesterday and I was above empty:

In warm months I go 700 miles every tank. Nearly 800 miles once that had zero highway miles that tank.

I'm having a problem with my gas gauge. Picked up a new 2025 hybrid truck 3 days ago, and the gauge showed full with 335 mi of range. I've driven 125 mi., the gauge still shows full and my range has increased to 415 miles. Help please!

The my25 XLT hybrid fuel tank capacity is 13.7 gallons. I checked the setting in the computer and it was set at 16.5 gallons. So, I changed it with Forscan.

You should read the posts before yours for more accurate info.
Which you can find in many threads actually.

Range has increased because your initial usage on new tank is looking good for EV usage - so the range appears farther now. Compared to miles the dealer had on before fillup.
Since it's an estimate - totally normal, and it'll change, even at the other end nearing Empty mark.

Guessing dealer filled it up since new - they probably overfilled, and if the gauge could show above Full - it would have initially.

Nothing to help with yet.

a) failed at all on a modern vehicle and DIDN'T take the fuel pump with it?
how modern?

It failed rather suddenly on my '99 Deville--one tank it was accurate, and on the next it was reading something like 3/8 when it suddenly sputtered out.

I was in the tow on the wy home when it suddenly occurred to me that, "Hey, that really felt similar to running out of gas."

I have read the other posts many of which were prior to 4/25. That’s the date my truck was built. Thinking that that I had 16.5 gallons of fuel, I ran out of fuel.

I have read the posts, many of which was before 4/25, the date that my truck was built. The other posts claim that they hold 16.5 gallons for a hybrid. And they may do just that. Mine on the other hand, does not. I carry a 2.5 gallon fuel can for emergencies. Well, good thing I did because I ran out of fuel. But the dash said I had 175 miles to empty. Hmm! Put in the 2.5 gallons and got to a fuel station to fill up and low and be hold, it only took 12 gallons. So, I believe that MY truck has a 13.8 gallon tank.

That is correct. The 2.0L ecoBoost has the 16.5 gallon tank.

Someone else in another thread had complained that they filled up drove 30 or so miles and the fuel guage dropped by around 1/8 tank.
I thought WOW !! Then yesterday I was driving home and hit a stop light where the sun was just right on the dash board. Ford in its wisdom placed a limited number of the little "finger" markers on the vertical scale. If we are going electronic then why not just give us actual gallons left like 10.3 or whatever.

Ya - forget DTE, pure estimate based on recent mileage calculations.
But interesting that it was that far off the wrong direction - usually it's on the safe side.

Did it sputter and die as it got empty - or just shut off?

So 14.5 gal total, less what you burned driving to gas station.
20 miles perhaps?

So it'll be interesting if the parts catalog shows a difference on 25MY tanks - or if the system has some changed programming.
