Just got back from a 250 mile round trip ride.
My 2024 AWD Ecoboost Lariat is one year in my possession in seven days and is just recently fully broken in with 12,700 miles on the clock.

Are you guys sitting down ?

Rolling hills, one gorge full of twisties. About 75% of the ride at 65-75 mph with some elevation change mixed in.
Three sections of 85-90 mph, each about five miles long.
Hey, I was keeping up with traffic.

I started at 1950 feet above sea level, finished at 3,100 feet then back.

TWO very hard and fast Italian tuned ups, about five miles each.

With the above mentioned hauling ass my trip fuel average was 31.3 mpg’s. Thats with the 4,500 to 5,500 rpm tune up runs AND the 85-90 mph sections.

I'm very happy,

I will say even though my stock Michelin primacy tires were at 38 psi hot the tires had to work to manage the sweeping turns at 75 mph.
I needed a bit more tire.

At the trips end I finally broke the 500 mile range mark.
I refilled and it showed me a respectable 517 mile range.

This Ecoboost on its full synthetic oil is now fully broken in and delivers its power so smoothly it’s almost unbelievable.

The Eight speed transmission is fantasticly smooth and accurate.

Here is the part you guys will call Bullshit on,
Twice I saw my mpg’s climb above 31 while I was doing 85-90.
The Ecoboost gets plenty of air and IMHO a so called cold air intake is just under the hood eye candy and an absolute waste of money.

Got an Ecoboost ?
Remember to drive it like you stole it now and then.
Zoom Zoom

A Warning to the fast boys.

I could feel the first signs of my Mavericks suspension and tires approaching its performance limits as I passed 90 mph.
On a straight away no problem.
I was not on a straight away. I was in high speed sweepers.
The boat float feeling was trying to be noticeable.

I hope your insurance company never reads this post. No one on this forum has ever driven there Maverick to the extremes you did as far as I know. you should get the "WOW" award from Ford!

90 is not the least bit extreme for the Ecoboost.
I’m comfortable at those speeds. It’s the American drivers as a whole who are not up to cruising at 90 and should not.

I had more than five years on the West German Autobahn. They, we considered 90 mph , 145-150 KPH just as normal over there as our 70 mph is here.

The only real difference is Germans get some actual driving training.
For an example,
If your in the left/high speed lane on the Autobahn and a faster driver comes up behind you and you don’t move to the right before he has to apply his brakes
You will get a ticket for obstructing traffic.
The left lane is strictly off limits to commercial trucks and busses.

The Ecoboost is very efficient at 90 and
With better tires and a bit stiffer suspension would be fine at 100 mph.

The 2.0 Liter Turbo Ecoboost mated to the eight speed is not even trying at 90 mph. I’m just allowing it to breathe a little.

I just completed a roughly 750 mile trip from Columbus, OH to Chicago and back.

With the cab loaded up with a family of 5 and luggage for the weekend the hybrid averaged…..

A really pathetic 23.5mpg.

That’s with the 235 Wildpeak AT Trails filled to 35psi cold and running 7-9 miles above the posted speed limit.

Love the Italian Tune-Up! Good way to clear things out once in a while. Plus, love to feel that ecoBOOST. The Mav is no slouch!

Makes me glad I got an Ecoboost. You're so right. It delivers its power very smoothly with the transmission always in the right gear. It rarely bogs or clunks into gear. Nothing like my last Tacoma. That thing was a dog! I couldn't stand to drive it long distance. Plus, the narrow cab and stiff seats made it unbearable! Lots of stretch breaks. In the Maverick, I can go a couple of hours non-stop and not be fully achy by the time I get out! It's such a great commuter!

Last time I can remember Italian tune ups was my neighbor Patrick and his grandmother's 1980s Grand Ma's Keys (Marquis). The old gal never drove it anywhere except church and the grocery store. So Pat and his Dad would take that car out on the state highway a few times a year and bury the needle on the speedometer.

The other would be early Northstar V8s (before everyone figured out that they had head bolt issues). The throttle bodies would get gummed up because Memaw and Pawpaw wouldn't drive them hard enough. The local shadetree mechanics would put fuel system cleaners in the tank and drive them like they stole them to clean it up.

Ummm, I routinely cruise at 100-110 MPH here in Germany. With a stage 1 tune and the limiter removed, it easily runs 130 or more but I rarely need to go that fast, 120 is comfortable when the traffic is light.

However, My best sustained average MPG is 25 and that was running in ECO mode for about a month and not having any fun.

My long term and current average is 23.8 to 24.2 MPG. My daily commute is around 20 miles each way, cruising as I said between 75 and 120 and normally running into traffic at some point causing speeds to reduce to around 50 or so.

I am just so curious (not doubting you) why you are the only one on the MTC that has Never had a problem whatsoever with anything on your Mav when ALL the rest of had at least something, albeit big or small happen that irritates us. You must be one lucky SOB! šŸ˜‰

A good friend who worked as a Porsche tech would do German tune ups.
Customer would complain about the way the car ran, he'd take it out on a sparsely used hunk of Interstate and WOT through the gears and that was usually all that was needed.

I do the same on my motorcycle, aka the blow out the carbon run..

I swear on a stack of Bibles,
Nothing, not a single issue,
No recalls, I checked. When I purchased it I had the service department check.
No recalls,
It was a last run 2024.

Back in the day, sports cars all had stick shift.
Easy to do Italian tune ups.
Get on the Super Slab and leave it in third gear, or second.
Then punch it.
It was the only way to keep a big Cleveland block running right If you mostly did inner city driving or grandma going to church stuff.

I think you would really appreciate the lower center of gravity, stiffer suspension, and torque vectoring RDU on the Lobo - it is on ā€œrailsā€ on the twisty/turnies even with the stock tires.

But you may not like the slightly lower stance on your driveway etc;)

And everyone here complains about the auto tranny ā€œluggingā€ and not down shifting like it’s supposed to but you? Next time I go to buy a vehicle, I want you to be with me. šŸ˜‰ Everyone that owns a Maverick has had recalls!

One of my first observations when driving the Maverick was its sturdy stance with hardly any roll when cornering. I was surprised to find a rollover warning ⚠on the visor.
When the limits of very durable items are met, the resulting damage is more catastrophic than flimsy or weaker items.
Thanks for sharing your high speed experience. 🤟
