Hi all -

I have a few questions, and some of them have been addressed partially in other threads but my dealer is giving disputing statements to what I have read.

I am torn between the hybrid and ecoboost engines, and a delay on the hybrid may sway my opinion on this. Is the delay 100% nationwide confirmed, or is it based on region? The fleet manager at my dealer (Stokes Hodges Ford in SC) has said that they have heard of no delay and they currently have no impacted customers. Same thing for the spray-in bedliner which I will be getting as a part of the Lariat luxury package. Any thoughts on this? Is the dealer giving me the runaround just to get my order?

If I place my order today, what are my chances of production being scheduled in the near future?

This is my first time ordering a vehicle instead of buying off the lot, so I am just so unsure about everything.

We are all guessing at this point, with some details that are giving us an idea of how the build order will occur. I think once we see some users posting their confirmed orders, there will be a more clear picture of what is coming and when...but that will be over the next few weeks.

Any way you slice it, you have to get in line to get a truck! We are still likely at least 2 months from first deliveries, so really we are talking about 3-4 or more months before you're likely getting a truck if you order today.

What's more important to you? Getting the truck the in the shortest possible time or getting exactly what you want? Since all we have are educated guesses, who the heck knows what is causing delays or not. IMHO, order what you want and enjoy it more when you do get. Who knows, you may just get it earlier than you thought.

Couldn’t agree more bschurman. Sound advice. Get what you want and enjoy it once it arrives. Last thing you should do is be impatient and get something cause you just have to have it early then say to yourself “ I wish”

Dealer wanted MSRP and standard dealer fees, so I ended up walking away. Has anyone else been forced into paying MSRP?

IMHO I don't believe there is a lot of wiggle room? I may be naive and totally wrong, but we're not talking about a $75K truck here. A base price under $20K for what your getting seems pretty impressive?

Depends on the dealer, there are a few good ones out there. Mine on order with a sticker price (MSRP) of $31,040, out the door price including dealer fees will be $29,639. Shop around.

It might be that the more extras you order the better chance of a discount?

Seems like all the dealers in my area have the same stance unfortunately, not too sure what other options I have.

Unless the goal is saving every penny possible (which is totally valid), I still think the easiest path, which is similar to the one I took, is:
1. $35 Mustang Club membership so that you can get X Plan pricing.
2. Email every Ford dealership within reasonable distance and ask them if they'll do X Plan with no dealer adds.
3. Doneski

While I obviously still have a ways to go, this is BY FAR AND AWAY the most comfy and non frustrating experience I've ever had to get this far. The amount of money I'm likely "leaving on the table" is more than enough to compensate me for not dealing with the headaches and hassle of all day deal negotiations.

I may ONLY order vehicles in this manner going forward. So smooth so far.

Echo the X-plan if you must stay local to avoid the negotiating hassles, just make sure they don't add other accessories. Otherwise, just go with Chapman's to make it hassle free.
