Yeah your order number will stay the same but your place in line with Ford will move back to like a new order.
To clarify - are you saying when you change body Style it puts you back to start, or with any change. As i'm looking to change the Power from Hybrid to Eco, so i can get a Vehicle. As i'm a rollover with a 10 priorty,

I would be definitely finding another dealer. It's a lot cheaper to drive elsewhere to pick up a truck exactly the way you want for MSRP. If they're that unscrupulous in the sales dept, imagine how crooked they're going to be in the service dept. I wouldn't walk away from that dealer, I'd run like hell! Good luck!

...if there is no deposit required elsewhere, I might just put in an order at that other place of business and see what happens.
Shop around. Read the threads on here about honest no-markup dealers. Ordering is slower now, due to slightly higher prices and high interest rates that have taken a lot of potential new car buyers off the market. Don't panic.

I ordered mine from an honest small town dealer. Phone order, MSRP - no markup, no add-ons and no deposit. Just a copy of my Drivers license, which I emailed to the salesperson. My truck should arrive in the next couple weeks.

Hi, all! New here, but I've been reading the forums for about 6 months since I've been trying to get a Maverick since the '22 model year. Always missed the ordering window, but I managed to get one the day they opened this year for a '24 model!

That being said, the experience soured a bit at ordering. For a quick background: the salesman added almost $4k in dealer add-ons. That did not include any market adjustment, but things that are really not needed. When I said I didn't want those things, he wouldn't make eye contact but rattled off how during the '23MY ordering season they had 200 or so Hybrid orders more than Ford would be able to fulfil. They had to select 200 of their customers to tell they would be changing to non-Hybrid orders or cancelling, and how "to be honest" they selected those customers who had NOT elected to take the dealer add-ons as the ones who would be screwed out of their order.

The ordering process was fine, but it really pissed me off to feel almost held hostage at that moment.

All that being said, I have two questions:
1. If I were to call them up and ask them to remove the dealer options, would that affect/restart my order? I think they mis-entered me as if I was a rollover, and thus got a much higher priority code than I should (5!) which I'd rather keep, but I'm not sure how that would work.
2. Considering the priority code, can anyone give me a rough estimate of how long before mine is built if they have had a similar priority code number? I specifically built the most common truck possible to get it sooner: XLT, no tonneau/mats/bedliner/mudflaps, no black package, Cactus Gray.

Thanks!
Phone other dealers and tell them what you want. Ask them their practice as far as dealer add ones. Even if you must drive an hour to get it at another dealer, walk away. Hopefully you did not give them a deposit. I heard order banks are open so confirm. You can do all this by phone and email including the customer order verification process COVP. Snap a photo of your drivers license if you don’t have a scanner and send the photo as a text message. Ditto the order the dealer will send you. Print it out, sign it, write your email on it then take a photo with your phone and send it. The COVP is for Ford.

This. ☝

COVP is Customer Order Verification Program. Ask the salesperson or sales manager to make sure this gets done, and ask for a copy of it. It's not always necessary, but in the past when demand far exceeded manufacturing capacity, Ford deleted a boatload of orders that weren't COVP'd. COVP may also be required for price protection or special offers from Ford, if your order had to be rolled over to the next model year.

What does this look like? I got a sheet showing the truck I ordered with the options and sale price that I signed. Is that it?

Lotsa good advice in this thread. I don't understand the concern about placing a deposit. My dealer requested one, and thinking it was a fairly standard practice I did so. I did ask if it was fully refundable, and was assured that it was. But isn't the deposit a reasonable assurance of delivery and simply applied against the sticker price at closing, or am I missing something?

... But isn't the deposit a reasonable assurance of delivery...
I've never put down a deposit to order a vehicle and don't plan to. I don't like loaning people money interest-free. And if this forum is any indication, a deposit is absolutely not a reasonable assurance of delivery. Yes you will get your deposit back, but you may not get the truck you ordered. There are horror stories on here about orders being sold out from under customers who paid deposits.

An honest dealership means a lot more than one that requires a deposit.

It's a verification from Ford that the dealer placed a valid retail order from a real person. Hence the driver's license requirement.

My sales person texted me the COVP tracking number and a COVP authorization number.

There was a deposit, yes. I probably need to look into how to get that back.

Best check on your order to make sure everything was reordered correctly. Your dealer may have set you at a priority 10, but by now Ford should have set all rollovers to a priority 2. As a rollover, I would not think the hybrid would prevent you getting built this year unless your dealer had many rollover orders and not enough allocations.

OK, So i switched from Hybrid to Eco, and the priority is now 02, it may be possible to get a build, Time will tell...
