It wouldn't hurt to periodically run some quality fuel injector cleaner through a tank of gas. It might knock off some of the carbon buildup on the pistons near the values.

Some more info. I am running a single catch can. I cant remember if they call it the clean side or the dirty side of the air flow system. I dump crap out of it all the time. I did check the gap on the used plugs, they were still withing a couple thousandths of .030.
They are 8$ a piece on rockauto for the oem plugs, I replaced them. too cheap not to when you are going through the effort of pulling them out.

Toss in some new plugs since you took the time to pull 'em and continue to drive happy...maybe a bottle or two of Techron from time to time to clean up the minor carbon deposits.....

When you have a snowed in weekend, bored, and feel like taking the intake manifold off.
How do the top side of the valve heads look?

Wondering since the piston side had some deposits, and that's the side hopefully getting good fuel.

I run 87 mostly top tier from costco. I try to use top tier when I can. Occasional 88 and 91 fill ups. It would be interesting to see someone elses piston heads with similar miles that uses 91.

Im trying to figure out when to do a Walnut blast. I originally planned on 50k miles but I think its too early. Maybe at 80k miles. I wish there was a way to boroscope the valves without pulling the whole intake off.

I can see your using gas without a good additive. I use Lucas gas treatment in every tank on all vehicles diesel or gas aids lubricity and keeps the carbon buildup at bay plus slightly better fuel economy. Buy it in the gallon size then fill the empty small bottles. The small bottles run around $6 with enough to treat twenty gallons but the gallon is only $29 making it economical to use. Good stuff
In the nineties we random sampled gasoline from retail locations for compliance purposes finding most problems with independent dealers while the majors were usually pretty good. Chevrons additive seemed to be the best for controlling carbon build up.

Burn some high test with 15% ethanol.

Octane number will be 93 or 95.
Ethanol cleans deposits well.

I run fuel cleaners through mine about twice a month it might be interesting to compare my cylinders vs his when I get to that point soon

They all look good to me. A little piston wash on a couple of the pistons, thats were the pistons are cleaner on the side by the cylinder, nothing major, pretty normal for direct injection, gas or diesel.

Run a can of SeaFoam through to clear the deposits...or Lucas - I use both. But you might want to rethink the Costco gas unless you can see a dilvery truck there and ask the driver where he picks up from. I have always used Shell or Marathon. But nothing looks terrible. I noticed you didn't say if you washed and waxed yet
