I would love to see reference to this promise to fix the deep sleep problem - lets call it undercharged battery problem.
You keep referring to it - I've never seen it.
Ford issued SSM 53087 for select 2022-2024 Ford Maverick hybrid models after it discovered that in those pickups, the 12-volt battery can drain intermittently. This reportedly occurs when the ignition is turned off, which can be a problem, particularly for trucks that sit for long periods of time. To rectify the problem, Ford is instructing dealers to disconnect the negative 12-volt battery terminal for five minutes, then fully charge the battery, and using either the Rotunda GRX-3590 or DCA-8000 tester, determine if a replacement is
needed.

If the dealer determines that a replacement is needed, they'll need to fully charge the new unit and perform a battery monitor sensor (BMS) reset. In the meantime, Ford is working on a software solution for this problem that's expected to be ready in Q1 2025, at which point it will inform dealers and customers.

This is exactly my point.

Nothing will be found.

That SSM in Nov was it - and it's not a promise or even saying they are looking for an issue regarding undercharged battery that causes a deep sleep effect eventually.

They were talking about an intermittent battery drain issue. It actually never said anything about the truck being off for long periods of time.
This was about a good old traditional parasitic draw.
The result of which is this thread we are up to 39 pages of.

The original SSM was to stop techs doing a long drawn out under-warranty investigation of what was killing a battery in 1 or 2 days. That is a parasitic draw. That is a battery drain.
Don't investigate.
Charge up the battery. Disconnect to reset all the modules.
Test the battery to make sure the drain didn't kill it.
Send the customer on their way, don't spend anymore time with it.

This thread is that promise fulfilled.
They think and hope! - perhaps it was the worst battery drain.
Considering the only posts I ever saw about troubleshooting drains ended with the TCU module being the problem - they must have some truck uploaded data saying otherwise. (those that left the fuse in anyway, not the others!)

That SSM turned into a rumor early on - and I stated back then it would turn out this way - NOT a solution to the undercharging issue.

Anyone remember back in the day before the overcomplexity of automobiles was the norm ?

Out on the highway somewhere doing 80 during the,
“I can’t drive 55” days with Sammy Hagar ?

We could tell if a cop was coming towards us in the dark because of his extra powerful alternator made his headlights noticeably brighter than everyone else.

With all the extra parasitic drains on those police cars they did not have problems.
Admittedly they kept the engine on when the light show was on. But still.

Sounds like the Mavericks charging system is a bit wimpy to me.

We need more capacity and more alternator type output.
We need our batteries to charge more, to be fully charged more often. Me thinks,

Amen. You hit the nail on the head. Whoever led the engineering of that important part of the vehicle missed the mark by a few thousand miles.

Just

For giggles, I put a smart charger on the posts under the hood of our 2023 hybrid Maverick Lariat Lux. I was able to take it from a 52% SOC up to 100% SOC at a 10 amp charge rate in about 3 hours. Drove it today approximately 15 mile round trip. Parked it back in the garage. Just checked the ANCEL BM200 on the app via Bluetooth and it is currently sitting at 85% SOC. I venture that tomorrow morning it will be down in the 70s percent range. Rediculous that the vehicle is discharging the battery to half of its capacity in just a matter of days. Come on Ford! This is 2025. You should have the capability of finding the chronic undercharging problem and the seemingly unstoppable current drainage.

I'd warrant your drop after a full charge is due to bad battery at this point, it can't hold it.
Unless you did not have the SSM done with software update to ACCM - and that is actually hitting you every night (that's not intermittent though).

My new battery from June can't hold a full charge either already.
Been hanging around normal SOC of 82% (Ford's 70%), and after vacation trip and full charge up, dropped back down overnight, with normal for me overnight microdrain of 65 mA - which on it's own could not cause that much drop.
Sulfated battery already I'm sure.

I believe this may be correct on some hybrid maverick, (wimpy charging system).

But not on mine, I have two 12 volt batteries under the back seat. (Too cheap to purchase a AGM that may not help, or take it to the dealer to hear more BS).
There is a current draw when the truck is turned off, I show it on my current meter.
When the truck is turned on, I can see the current jump to 50amp for 10 seconds then start to drop.
Charging voltage is 14.4-15.1V all of the time.
I did change the battery setting with forscan to flooded, and change SOC to 99%. and changed it to a bigger battery setting.
So far no messages about sleep mode.
So the DC-DC converter can put out the current if it need to.

My 15 year old Schumacher digital charger set to AGM 2 amp peaks my AGM at 12.48
Resting two hours later at 12.41
Took three hours to peak. Start voltage was 12.1 VDC
Not good, my 2024 Mav ECO is eleven months old and 11,000 miles.

Do I need a new charger ?
I thought my peak should be 12.8

Eh - if you want it done faster. If you have the time, it'll get there.

I have 10A Schumacher, and 2A NOCO. Turns out I carefully read the Schumacher manual AFTER getting the NOCO, and it said it did de-sulfation routine too. Oh well, NOCO much smaller.

The NOCO manual gives the chart of recharge timing, and of course a big recharge is going to take awhile, and the topping part too. In fact chart doesn't make it sound like it'll ever handle the small hybrid AH level - but it does, eventually.
But longer on the AGM as it is likely trying to be more careful. FLA was faster in chart.

If this Post is up to 39 pages, I think we all really have a big issue that the dealer needs to FIX!

I bought the new inexpensive China AGM battery and have not installed/replaced my 4th battery that the dealer replaced under warranty, a year ago.
My MAV is continually in deep sleep mode all day, every day.

Probably not super accurate but I have a digital voltage meter plugged into the cigarette lighter port and every time I turn the truck on it says between 11.5 to 11.8 and then jumps up to 14.4 to 14.7.
The only time I ever see 12v is immediately after driving and turning it off and right back on again.
20 minutes later I start it, it's showing 11.5

I am not an auto mechanic but a very good computer tech and pretty mechanically inclined.
I purchased Forescan and installed it on my laptop along with an OBD interface. I watched a few Youtube videos on using Forescan, but this is all brand new to me and would really appreciate some help.

I think this may possibly be helpful for me after installing my new AGM battery to change the SOC settings but I have no idea where to go and what to change.

Does anyone have more exact details on what and where to make the changes in Forescan? It would be mighty helpful to all of us, I think.

Jan 26 2026 New 2022-2025 Maverick - 2.5L Hybrid - Various Electrical Symptoms And/Or No Crank/No Start - Related To 12-Volt Battery Drain
Some 2022-2025 Maverick hybrid vehicles may exhibit a no crank/no start condition due to a 12V battery drain after performing the air conditioning control module (ACCM) software update. Engineering is aware of this symptom and is currently developing a repair which is expected to be available in late Q2 of 2026. If a vehicle comes in for this condition, submit a Global Concern Report (GCR) and monitor Professional Technician System (PTS) for additional information and schedule service appointments for customers once the repair becomes available. To submit a report, click on the "Submit Global Concern Report (GCR)" link at the upper right of the PTS Vehicle ID screen (VIN required) and fill out the form. Do not use the "Report A Problem" link to submit a report for this condition.

I used to own a brand new 2022 EV in Canada. The U.S. models had 12V battery drain issues. It didn't show its ugly head immediately in Canada (probably due to less vehicles). This brings to light two issues:
1. 12V battery drains are issues with many manufacturers, both EVs & hybrids
2. Multiple "fixes" were done over the years, thinking the issue was resolved ... until it wasn't. i.e. the supposed fix didn't actually help

It's always a wise idea to hold off a touch to see what the end result is. If this SSM fixes it - great. If not, Ford goes back to the drawing board.

My 2025 Maverick Lariat has been built this week and hope I won't have this issue, but until I know for sure, I will devise a way to access the 12V battery (should it die and not open the doors) and carry a LFP booster pack.

Cheers,
Steve
I own a 22 with the dreaded drain problem, I have had it not start a couple of times, a battery starter pack is a great idea, I have used it, and btw you can unlock your vehicle with the key,,,just saying, ask me how I know

New SSM, Ford knows it's not fixed and they are working on it AGAIN!!!
And they will just blow past that date AGAIN, like they did in 2025, hoping more and more owners fall out of warranty coverage so they can say "it's your problem now".

Yeah, and charge me another $100 for their 'fix', like SSM 53801....Frustrating - I am leaving the dealer world and it will not be as easy for me to get repairs done so I will just have to save until I have another ESP claim and piggyback it...

this vehicle is the only one that I have ever bought an extended warranty....

Same here! But this is the first vehicle I have ever purchased that is as much computer and it is vehicle, way of the future and all I suppose. Im not quite sure why these software updates require a dealer visit, I guess thats for the benefit of the dealers? I'm not a computer guy but my Mac computer, my I phone, my AirPods, my wife's Apple Watch dont require a trip to the Apple Store to update software.

I bought the extended warrant despite the battery being covered for 8 years....is that right? and I am part of that bad crankshaft might blow up crowd, which has new software as well, so I think my ICE is covered to 150,000 miles? Im not sure if thats right.

So it's all the electronics that I fear getting wonky. I am a motorcycle guy and motorcycles are a very harsh environment for electronics and electronics are overtaking motorcycles as well and EVERYONES motorcycle electronics gets wonky aside from the Japanese.......mostly. I you are going to ride a motorcycle around the world, do it on a Yamaha or a Honda, maybe a Kawasaki or a Suzuki. I rode halfway around the world on a Yamaha and a Kawasaki.

I am at 40 months and 38,000 miles on my 22 XLT and other than the software updates the only problem I have ever had with mine was the half shafts got clunky and replaced under warranty 4 months ago and my 12v battery died once last month. I charged it with my regular old Schumacher battery charger still all hooked up, did the battery reset procedure from the manual and haven't had another issue since, 40 month old, not an AGM, 12v battery too. I may have left the interior lights or something on IDK but it seems fine now, I don't expect the 12v battery to make it though the next Arizona summer TBH 40 months is a long time for a battery in AZ, maybe luck or the relatively cool location under the seat IDK.

I did buy tires a bit early at 30,000, I probably could have squeezed another 5000 out of them, I was doing my own rotations as well, probably going to let Discount Tire do it from now on. I change my own oil 5000 miles the first time and about 7500 after that which is 20% oil life remaining, and I use the factory filter and a Fumoto drain valve.

I dont do anything special and I get about 38 mpg on average, I reset it once a year after it cools down in November. If I didnt need the AC I am sure it would be over 40 mpg. The AC is the best I have ever had in a vehicle that didnt have dual AC( shout out to my 2004 Chevy Suburban). That is a BIG deal in Arizona. I leave the AC on and do the remote start a few minutes before getting in the car and it makes a huge difference on those 115 degree days when you are parked in the sun and the steering wheel is to hot to touch!
