TSB & FIX: Hood Flutter Shake at Highway Speeds

Just for reference, on our Thanksgiving trip to Phoenix and back I noticed my wife's RAV4 does the same thing (hood shake). I have never noticed it before on numerous road trips and probably wouldn't have noticed it this trip if not looking for it after reading these threads. Must be more common than just the Maverick. [Also posted in the Kilmat thread, but thought worth adding here too].

I did a 200+ round trip the day after I picked up my pickup. Speeds 80+ occasionally, mid-70s extended periods of time, various freeways, highways, and road surfaces. No hood flutter. I read this forum before I took delivery, so I was very eager to look for flutter. I'm satisfied.

I did the kilmat install today to the hood ,not sure of any benefits. It definitely added some weight to the hood .

Did you have any hood shake beforehand? Still persists or did you not have the problem at all so you can't tell if it helped?

Had it since day one noticed on are 350 mile ride home from taking delivery. Will see over time if this did anything at all.

I added my hood deflector earlier this week and just made a 5 hour hwy trip. Hood had little shake at speeds 65 and under. After 70 the shake increase and was ridiculous at 100! I do most of my driving from 35-60. I can deal with a little shake.

I have same hood deflector and I notice right away after installation even adjusting the grommet underneath same issue.

I've got plenty of shake from my hood. 40-60 mph is starts to lift smoothly. Above 60 mph and it's not smooth anymore. I've got the hood air deflector on my truck, so I wonder if that accentuates the matter. Reading from the 2nd post, that was part of the issue with the F-150.

Accumulating the issues before making the trip to the dealer for some warranty repairs. This and the back seat flop are the most annoying issues at this point. The hood shake could eventually become expensive and even dangerous, so it take precedence.

I wonder if it’s possible it’s more pronounced on fx4/skid plates changing the pressure under the hood. Is it all models?

My Maverick has the FX4 package, hood deflector, and hood flutter.

That was the first thing my dealer did . Helped a tad not to much though. Hope it worked for you would be a simple fix
