Anyone noticed anything odd with the last over the air Update on 2025 Maverick's?

I wish Ford themselves would offer the ability to turn off the indicator when the belts are fastened. I don't mind the warning if it isn't fastened. That's the purpose. But why do I need the reminder to be in my face at all if I'm buckled up. It makes no sense.

Because they didn't put weight sensors in the rear seats to know if someone is sitting there.
So need to notify in case there are and they haven't buckled yet.
Or buckle them all - then it won't stick around.

ETA due to next post - appears pre-2025 are on different system.
EETA - actually, 2025 may not be different, next next post.

HOW DOES THE REAR OCCUPANT ALERT SYSTEM WORK

The system monitors when rear doors have been opened and closed to indicate the potential presence of an occupant in the rear seat.
A message displays in the touchscreen and an audible warning sounds when you switch the ignition off after any of the following conditions have been met:
  • A rear door is opened or closed while the ignition is on.
  • You switch the ignition on within 15 minutes of a rear door opening and closing.
  • You switch the ignition on within 15 minutes of the alert having displayed or sounded.

My 2025 definitely has weight sensors in the rear! Even with the warning system completely disabled through forscan. I had some brake discs on the rear seats and got a warning to check rear seat occupants when I turned off the engine. Next time I connect forscan I will see if I can disable that nanny feature.

You sure?

2025 manual.
ETA: if there are weight sensors - why would they dink around with tracking doors opened/closed and belts clicked?

HOW DOES THE REAR OCCUPANT ALERT SYSTEM WORK

The system monitors the activity of the buckle on the rear seatbelt and the opening and closing of the rear doors to indicate the potential presence of an occupant in the rear seat.
When Child Seat Installed is selected, the system monitors only the opening and closing of the rear doors to indicate the potential presence of an occupant in the rear seat.
When Child Seat Installed is not selected, the system monitors the rear seatbelt buckle activity and the opening and closing of the rear doors to indicate the potential presence of an occupant in the rear seat.

  • You switch the ignition on within 15 minutes of a rear door opening and closing.
  • You switch the ignition on within 15 minutes of the alert having displayed or sounded.
If you do not open a rear door within a short period of time of the message appearing in the center display, the first audible warning sounding and driver door open to close, the horn sounds for a short period of time.
Note: Horn sounds only when the Rear Occupant Alert is set to Alert & Horn. If you change the setting, then there is no horn sound.

I use the rear seat to carry both passengers & items quite frequently. Before making changes with forscan I did get the seatbelt alerts, but had never seen this screen. I have never touched the seatbelts related to carrying items. The only difference was this being the first time that I put something relatively heavy on the seat. I have not made any changes to system settings nor have run forscan in well over a month. I do wonder if an automated update occurred which enabled this alert.

I have to agree with Harris. i think it does have weight sensors in the rear. I have had people in the back who were carrying purses. They put the purse in the middle seat and the truck kept dinging to put the seatbelt on in the center seat. wouldn't stop until the purse was lifted.

Had my screen get stuck displaying the animated Ford logo the other day. It would still play the radio but never went off of that darned logo.

Did you cure it by resetting the system or did you just shut off the truck and it worked on the next start?

I've had my son's child seat installed in my '25 since day 1 and the rear seat occupancy alert has never been consistent. I think it consistently alerts me when he's with me. But when he's not with me, it's 50/50 whether it throws the alert or not and I don't understand what's causing it. Makes no sense. I take him to school in the morning and then the rest of the day I'm making several trips where I'm only using the driver's door and it's a toss up whether it throws the alert. I don't get it.

As far as the radio, yeah I've definitely noticed that it plays longer after opening the door since the latest update. Either I'm listening to music that is now blaring outside the truck and is kind of obnoxious, or it's a podcast, in which case I'm missing a few moments of a conversation. Pocketcasts does a pretty good job at auto-rewinding when resuming playback, but still annoying. AFAIC, the radio should stop as soon as the driver's door opens.

I have a 2025 XLT Hybrid AWD. Also have the update. Haven't noticed anything weird. In fact, it seems to drive a bit better since the update.
Yes, I think my horsepower went up, I can't take off from a stoplight now without spinning the tires.

Correlation isn't necessarily causation, but for about a month before this my Ford Pass stopped talking with my truck. And after I removed it from my phone and tried to reconnect it never gave the popup. Did all sorts of troubleshooting.
I saw the update. Applied it. Decided to try again the next day and it is now working.
Almost like there may have been some computer clutter that got reset when the update was applied.

Not really. The other vehicles seat belt light only lights up momentarily unless you're unbuckled. The 2025 Maverick lights up for what seems like a minute and a half even when buckled. The only difference is that it's green to tell you that you are buckled. I have no problem with it staying on forever if you're unbuckled. That's its purpose. But why stay on for so long when you're buckled up. If it was a liability issue all of their vehicle's would remain lit even if buckled

So 25MY is different than pre-25MY's?
24 XLT Stays on for the backseat - because it really doesn't know if someone is back there.
If backseat buckles are all done, the instant I click the driver in, or passenger there's in, after starting - it immediately is gone.

If all buckles are done prior to start - there's a flash of a graphic instantly gone. Is it that one showing 5 green seats that sticks around on the 25MY?

So either a certain year, or type of vehicle perhaps - now requires confirmation regarding the backseat potential passengers if NOT buckled.
Or as the manual seems to indicate despite some posted comments - there is no weight sensor for each seat to confirm a passenger has their belt on.

I don't think the early models stay on so long. But I'm not sure. When I drive an earlier model, I'm usually working on it . So I'm not really focused on that. But when I'm driving My 2025, I'm more in tune to what it's doing. When I first start the vehicle, it gives a message that asked if I want to continue in eco mode. Before I get a chance to press yes, the seatbelt minder pops up and blocks it. By the time it goes off, the resume eco mode question is long gone. Also, other settings are blocked until the seat reminder goes off or I press the button to make it go off more quickly. It's not a major issue. But it's a minor aggravation

Test with locking the 3 rear belts, and have yours buckled - before starting.

See if it's the same. Graphic flashes and is gone.
From reports sounds like it.
