Anybody else notice the spare they give you is not the correct diameter? Truck tire is 225/55 R19 ,29.96" tall. The spare 215/70 R17 is 28.9". Not a good idea to use with an AWD vehicle. I found a 235/70 R17 is 29.9" tall (and only 3/8" wider) so I'm going to replace it. Trying to get the dealer to do it. He is asking Ford why this happened. We drive long miles on I 80 so if we get flat, we would be driving a long distance to get a correct size tire, not going to do that to an AWD car. Anyone disagree?

It is not quite a full size spare.

It IS A FULL USE SPARE which means it has the same load and speed ratings as the other four, and technically, no mileage limit either, and you can tow with it.

As different than a "temporary spare" that usually has a 50 mile rating, 55 mph speed limit; and you shouldn't tow with a temporary spare.

Running the spare "sparingly" is not going to damage the AWD. The "full size" spare is not the same size on any trim. It's for an emergency until you get to a tire store. My question to you is if you have a flat that can't be repaired are you going to replace all 4 tires? Second question. Are the 4 tires on it now exactly the same diameter?

I guess I didn't make myself clear, we drive long distances (I 80 through Wyoming) to Utah and there are long stretches with no availability to a tire shop. This is a brand new truck and I know better than to drive it on a dissimilar size tire. I will buy a new tire as I initially mentioned rather than risk damage. The Ford dealer received a response from Ford that said that the spare is only for short distance use, Da!
Sorry to have confused anyone that I thought the spare supplied was usable for long distance trips. $150-200 for a new tire that IS the same diameter is cheap insurance.

Might want to check the owners manual again, the "full size spare" as Ford calls it, still is speed limited, more so than the stock tires.* ;)

*Maybe Ford changed this for 2025?

There's no mention of speed limiting on our 2025 4k tow's spare. It's just a regular tire. It's even XL rated

Not that big of a difference. It's like running 1 tire 5 psi under pressure. Not going to damage anything. Ford wouldn't do this if it was unsafe. The "full size" spares are not same specs.

For the 2025 MY, Ford changed the "full size" spare from the previous 215/60R17 (27.16" OD) to a 215/70R17 (28.85" OD), MUCH closer to the OEM tire sizes, and even slightly larger.

Not ours ...

It's a 215/60-17, and quite a bit smaller that the other tires

You have a 2025 with the "conventional" tire upgrade, like is included in the 4K tow package?

It's a 2025 Lariat with 4K tow ... Holy crap, you just made me realize that it was fitted with the wrong size spare! Thanks for posting this, I'll contact Ford to have it changed. No wonder it's so much smaller!!
