So this is the first car you’ve ever owned and have no idea when to change the oil .
No need to make a comment like this. OP had a valid question. Oil that has ran in an engine has acids already contaminating it. That Acid Etches Engine Components. Think : Bearings and Aluminum. If you done believe etching happens Please do yourself a favor and take household vinegar and stick anything copper (Bearing) or Aluminum (Rods) or Iron (Crank) and leave it in there for 48 hours...... You will be horrified!

I bought my 2024 Ecoboost back in June ('25). Was sitting on the lot since October 2024, got it with 58 miles on it. I just had the dealer do the first oil change yesterday, just over 5500 miles. I plan on doing my intervals between 5,000 and 6,000 miles. They do a synthetic blend but I opted for the more expensive full synthetic. Not sure if it was the fresh oil or the full synthetic but I swear it's running amazing right now! No hesitation, no lagging, even on cruise control I feel the difference. Even the girlfriend said something about it. I was feeling since I first got it that it was a little sluggish but I presumed turbo lag 🤷‍♂️ never owned a turbo before this. Now I'm like so THIS is what a turbo is about 🤘 maybe it's all in my head, either way I'm loving my Maverick even more now! To the OP change it how and when you want to. It's your vehicle and your dime, enjoy the ride!

Have seen a UOA and vid of full syn low miles, a few thousand, that were 18 and 24 months old that were fine. Lots of life left. Only concern is the manual and common belief to change oil "annually".

Im feeling "ok" with running oil 1 year plus a few months past the build date. Should be 1k+ total miles, 500+ miles on ICE.

Thanks!
The OLM started the time count when the dealership activated the modules after arrival.

With mileage that low - it'll hone in on that date after awhile when it sees your mileage won't be getting 10K under a year.

If you have Lariat you get to see exactly how many ICE miles was done. Probably end up being 5-6K anyway.

Is that a question or a statement? Either one, no information was provided. Why? Perhaps Im missing something. Try again by providing useful information to the question posed.

"Build date is 8/2024" do it now, Ford says every 15,000km or 12 months, whatever comes first.
It's 9/2025 now

Do consider an oil analysis . Good info about oil condition, engine wear since new. And if the oil doing its job.

Thought about that and think the money would be better spent on doing my own oil change. Have seen two UOA at bitog of factory fill and it looks like good full synthetic. Running it for a couple months past 1 year should be fine.

Bought a new 2024 hybrid and unsure when to do first oil change given the vehicle is over a year old as is the oil. Build date is 8/2024. Some say the factory oil fill is full syn, others say it is a special oil. Dealer says its special and to not worry about "time" and to change at 2500 miles. We drive about 400 miles a month so changing it at 2500 miles would be put the oil at almost 2 years old. Suggestions appreciated.
I am not sure about the 2024 but I just bought a 2025 and was told that ford puts in a blend, and comes with a small filter, I changed out the oil at 700 miles, yep 700 miles, I have always done this on any new engine, get rid of the fines and that small filter...you do want U want but a few bucks give U peace of mind

You make me think, I bought my 2024 Tremor Ecoboost back in July (2025). It was sitting on the lot since last year, I was thinking to do an oil change next year (July 2026), because I don't drive that much, so now I'm not sure, I mean in 2026 it's gonna be 2 years old, not one as I thought before!

This is from a post on reddit, 2022 Mav hybrid. The comments are from the Blackstone report attached. Never read a report that mentions "time" not being a factor.

"Calendar time isn't a factor in modern engines like this one (regardless of what some say), so feel free to base your oil changes on mileage alone. The extra metal in this sample just shows wear-in produced by the new parts establishing clearances, and they're typical finds after a first oil change. Silicon comes from harmless sealer and assembly lube. Once all that clears out (likely a couple oil changes from now), your engine's reports should look like universal averages for the 2.5L Atkinson hybrid, which are based on oil run for ~10,600 miles. Try that interval next time"

Not sure why Ford would do that, given that your truck specifies full synthetic, and the Ford-branded blends don't meet WSS-M2C962-A1. More than likely your dealer is full of it.

Considered "small" or not, the trucks also ship with whatever OEM filter they are specified to have.

At least viscosity numbers look good. Probably good because low mileage of new engine.

Whoever wrote that report at Blackstone is probably a Hybrid Owner on a forum and also a very misinformed tribologist lol.

Yeah, I understand where youre coming from. And tend to agree. But, I found UOA's, I mentioned this in the first post, that had oil test at 18 and 24 months and the oil test results were very good.

Just found this one. 1 year and 10 months:

Another one at 2+ years. This Blackstone report also mentions time not being a factor.

Were many test drive miles on it?
Or you think literally just sitting, no moving around on the lot, ect?
Your OLM is likely going to aim for 1 yr since they activated it - was it sitting due to no sale allowed for some recalls? Maybe they didn't activate it until later, in which case it should be late enough into 1 yr the estimate should have changed to time based now.
