Greetings Maverickians!
I decided to do the first oil/ filter change and safety inspection on my 2024 hybrid. The mileage is 7600.
What I discovered:
1. The plastic undercarriage cover is very easy to remove and replace. No cussing, skinned knuckles or physical contortions required.
2. The drain plug was really tight and required a long handled ratchet to break it loose. I estimate 50 lbs of torque.
3. The oil filter was also way way over tightened. So tight that the oil filter removal tool began to deform it. I suggest a removal tool that has a socket or wrench adapter in addition to the 3/8” slot for an extension or ratchet. Seriously, I was having doubts that it would come off. The tightest filter in 60 years of oil changes.
4. The oil color was a good old fashioned dark brown. Not a hint of green.
5. I spent about 45 minutes on the FordPass app (on my computer) to add the service event. I completed the form after finally finding how to add an event and unfortunately, when I tried to save it, I got continuous error messages. All required fields were completed including the disclaimer check box. I ended up printing out every screen and will add the paper copies to my Maverick file.
PS. The oil life was about 50% when I changed it- I know, I know
PSS. The undercarriage and associated hardware is really sano (sanitary).
