I am not saying what I did is right, but I haven't had any issues. I got my first oil change 45 days and 3,500 miles after taking delivery. I have continued to try and stay below the 10,000 mile recommended oil change interval and I utilized synthetic oil. I currently have 35,000 and have changed my oil 6 times.

Probably 8000 to 10000 miles with light, low duty driving. Modern full synthetic oil is amazing stuff. All the junkies changing oil at 500 to 2k miles are just wasting money. Yes I know oil and filters are cheap but it's still a waste. Interval will be more like 5k if I'm towing it hauling excessive amounts
Well it is a $30.00 diy peace of mind for the first time 500 to a 1000 mile

Can 5W20 snyblend be used for this motor? I know it calls for 0W20 full syn, but I cannot find Motorcraft 0W20 around here. Is Ford's 0W20 new which is why no one is carrying it yet?
Super tech 0w-20 is a great oil

The decision regarding when to do the first oil change should ALWAYS involve a Tarot card reading.

Tarot card readings vary from each voodoo priestess I try to use an ouija board for major decisions. Or read tea leaves.

I have over 7k miles on my hybrid xlt. Still haven't done an oil change, don't feel bad about it at all
I went 9,200 for my first. Oil life monitor was showing 40 % left before needing a change. I'm at 18,500 now...shows 42% left. This truck can easily go 10K between the changes....the Hybrid that is. Remember folks...as said MANY times before in this forum....this is 2025. Technology is HERE. This is NOT your father's Oldsmobile.

This may be 2025, but I don't go by percentage of oil life monitor. The one thing you can't overlook from back in your father's Oldsmobile days to today, is physically looking at the oil on the dipstick. I check mine visually, and if its dirty I replace the oil no matter how many miles have elapsed.

I work at a high school and have access to the mechanics shop, including cost on oil. I change mine every 6000km give or take with idemitsu 0w20 and a wix filter. I’m only 2 oil changes in on my 2025 lariat.

I would put my dipstick at 10,000 vs. yours at 5000, and I would BET you could not tell the difference.

This is my dipstick wipe after oil change. I’ll change again in 3000 miles. I’ll BET you’ll see a difference.

I do agree that filthy oil at 10,000 looks a lot like filthy oil at 5,000 though!

3000 Miles!!… come on….seriously?? I’m just messing with you. 😝😝😝 I know how people are with their trucks and maintenance and there’s no changing people that are set in their ways. I actually used to be a 3000 mile changer back in the day. But damn… with the price of gas, diesel, and groceries I’m trying to save a little bit of coin.

I only drive 3000mi/yr - so think of me as “12 month changer”?

Although I do drive under “severe conditions” as defined by Ford, so I may not wait 12 months. We’ll see. I enjoy changing my own oil:)

How many miles & months since your previous change - and what did your OLR% read? Do you drive normal (perfect) or severe (normal)?
Just nosy & curious
