Had 9 days on the first tank of gas. Could have gotten another 4-5 days if I hadn't done a one hour trip to a friend's birthday party. I liked the chime and warning screen saying I had 50 miles to go before I was out of fuel. The trip computer had 27.2 mpg, which I would have loved. However, with my trusty notebook and calculator it was actually 26.5 mpg.

I had mixed emotions on that. While trip computers tend to be optimistic I hoped maybe that would have been more accurate. I came out of an Elantra and was getting 30-33 mpg all the time. I've spent quite a bit of time letting the engine run as I was at the touchscreen trying to figure things out, such as radio presets and safety systems. I figure give the engine time to season up a bit and perhaps the 2.0 liter Ecoboost will be bit less thirsty. I also must concede I'm in a taller vehicle, have an open truck bed in back effecting aerodynamics, have all-wheel drive, and an engine giving me 100 more horsepower than what I'm used to. 238 horsepower is the most powerful vehicle I've ever owned. 30-33 mpg to 26.5 mpg is probably a reasonable trade-off. It sounds like 27-28 mpg isn't unreasonable if I don't have a heavy right foot.

Are you saying Your Maverick is only 238 Horsepower? If so it's actually 250 Horsepower on 91 or 93 octane fuel.

Many are still going by the INITIAL reports of 238. Many don't realize that Ford actually was able to keep the numbers the same after initially reporting the lower number

I like the low rpm’s I get, like here. 1,600 rpm at 61 mph with no lugging.
Almost 200 miles on the first quarter of a tank,

Outstanding !

31 mpg is not too shabby. But I have to take it easy, drive it like a hybrid to get that.

I’m not an economical driver, I prefer to drive a bit tighter in the power band so I more often than not get 27 mpg. For a little truck I am happy,

All I know is I'm going by what MotorTrend, Car and Driver, Edmunds, etc. said earlier this year after Ford installed a particulate filter and said HP drops to 238. The magazines are getting their info from Ford directly. I would figure they know what they're talking about.

Having the trip computer off only .7mpg is pretty accurate. Especially when you're comparing it to a nebulous 30-33mpg (3 mile range).

Agreed .7 is extremely accurate especially when comparing to your own calculations, which include a human component. Unless you measure the exact amount of gas you put in and not trust the gas pump, there will be a margin of error.

2024 Ecoboost Lariat just turned 35K. Get ~24-26 city and 31-33 highway. No complaints on mileage. I have a bed cover that definitely helped.

Again, Ford INITIALLY reported 238. But they Later revised it back to the original value. Some publications updated their information. Others didn't. Not a big deal really. No one reported any loss of performance. So I'm guessing it's the same. Also Fords current information to us reports the greater HP

Every car I own had a trip computer that showed 1 MPG better than it was actually getting, this is no different than my Maverick. Also, you're getting pretty good fuel economy, I have to put in a lot of effort on my part to eek out 24.5 MPG on a tank.

In 2025 Ford added multi port injectors to the direct injection to the turbo engines to cut down on carbon build up. The changes they made cut down on the horsepower rating on all their engines to include the police interceptor.

My 22 FX4 LUX 4k tow Maverick got 17/18 mpg mostly local short trips, BUT when I did highway driving, I set the cruse at about 2k rpm 65/70 and got almost double that mid 30mpg and more sometimes. Yes, the 25 model HP is 250. Thats peak HP don't forget, you will never tell the difference between 250 and 238. I have a 25 Lariat hybrid now 191 hp and feels just and fast as my eco the one time I floored it getting on the parkway after 2k mile
break in.

i'm curious if the dash mpg thingy is programmed for one size of tire across all mavericks sold, or they actually input the different size tires, for different models. or if it's changeable when i put bigger tires on it ?

It is programmed for the size that is on your vehicle from the factory. I am not sure about the Maverick., but many Ford vehicles allow a limited number of choices of tire sizes to be programmed. They are generally the sizes that could have come with the Maverick in its various configurations
