The offset rear license plate is one of the details that makes it so easy to identify another Maverick ahead of you,,,,

I’m starting to feel like an inexperienced Maverick Owner asking a stupid question.

It's already mounted. I can't see it from the driver's seat. It's a truck and a license plate not a show car. As long as it is mounted I'm legal.
Easy for you to say because you HAVE a show car in addition to your truck.

And others say the offset OEM is the reason for ‘so many rear ends’, B.S. !!!
I've not seen that one. I've seen those that state the reason is that it looks just like an F-150 from the rear and screws with drivers depth perception due to the smaller size and that causes rear-end accidents. That one is equally B.S. It doesn't look like an F-150 if you look at the license plate!

Latest theory is that Hybrid Owners are using “L” button to slow their trucks which does not activate brake lights. Interesting theory….

What about lighting?
The lighting (LED?) is only shining on the OEM. My state (AZ) requires the plate be visible at night. The other locations would be appropriate for “dark mode” midnight moonshine hauling
