Can you really autocross the Ford Maverick Lobo? (Spoiler alert: Yes.)

They seemed to have a good time with a completely stock truck.

Switch to better tires for improved transient response, a rear sway bar to reduce understeer and maybe upgraded suspension to tighten things up, it'll be great fun!
Most manufacturers will void your power train warranty if they find out you raced on a closed course. Not Ford with the Lobo - they actually recommend it.

I’m just worried Ford will void my power train warranty if they find out I used “Lobo Mode” to go to the grocery store…

That's nice to hear that Ford backs their vehicle's toughness like that. It's how Porsche has always recommended you track their cars and even provides their own small little tracks as well.

I mean, you can auto cross anything.
Truth! I auto crossed a fox body Mustang back in the day, and it was crazy the stuff that would show up. You could always tell the good drivers, they could get anything around the course in a respectable time. I was definitely not one of them.... 😂

Crap - that driver is hauling 🔥

If the pylons were 10ft tall & glowing, I’d have a chance at finishing in maybe twice that time.
respectfully, that's a tiny lot and they are going slow. I doubt he hit 45 mph. based on the noise the tires are making and the speeds while doing such, that's probably stock tires which as GRM noted are a massive limitation.

my local events - well, they're 50 miles away, but that's as local as it gets - are on an old WW2 navy airstrip and a Maverick can easily hit 55-60 in the slalom.

Seems like that recipe would apply to all Mavericks.
absolutely does.

the thing that a lobo has that other mavericks do not is lobo mode, but a tremor has the same rear differential and a tremor could be pretty successful at street performance also, with different suspension and tires.

but yes, certainly any maverick that is lowered and on summer tires is going to handle VASTLY better than a stock maverick.

I've been thinking about that ever since I took my mav thru this canyon area, way more capable that I expected it to be and this is an FX4 with kinda knobby tires from the previous owner.
Once they are worn out it will be time for that better rubber.

Agree. The Lobo’s torque vectoring rear differential & slightly lowered center of gravity help though?
