My service advisor at the dealership said they did the update with engine off. I told them when they took it in it was supposed to be done with the engine running but he said he read the service message and it never said anything about having it in the running mode. We'll see how long it takes to get the low battery warning. I hope NEVER but have my doubts. Of course they always tell me I don't drive my truck enough but I got the warning the day after a highway trip of over 100 miles. IF the latest update did nothing I will be call Ford's national service number because I have a national case number on this.
Judging from my 22 lariat hybrid 100 miles is not enough. With 200-250 mile stops it takes about 500-600 miles before the voltage next AM will be at 12.6v. exception is if my noco g5 has been on 12v for 8-10 days so maybe some sulphates have been removed by the optimization then 40-50 miles will give next am 14.5-14.6v, usually. At 34.5 months my oem 12v was replaced after the overnight long battery test due to bad cell.

Did they even comment they charged the battery?

I'm expecting we'll hear back about battery save or sleep mode in a couple days.

And ya - the service message never said engine running to do update - which they probably looked at. The tech instructions should have been a different matter.

Glad it did stop the fan or whatever from running after you turned it off. That's obviously a bad problem on the battery.
You've said a couple times though, AC being on when you turned it on - you don't mean you heard fans running?

The service notice was updated after dozens of people had their ac units bricked by the original notice. I'll bet they never looked up the new one that has been out for a month now.

No, the A/C showed it was in the on position when I made sure everything was off before I turned off the ignition.

Sounds like you had a 25MY software running!
That's what some of them are commenting on, running on startup.

So AC being on when you turn the truck on isn't going to be draining your battery when the truck is off.
So that wasn't a problem. Unless you heard a cooling fan running.
AC can't run because that runs off the HVB, which is disconnected when you go to ACC mode and certainly when you go OFF.

Sometimes in my 2022 hybrid XLT LUX when I stop and key off, I can hear what I believe is a pump (possibly the HVB cooling pump?) running for minutes. Don't know for sure. Don't know if 12v or HVB is furnishing power.

Let me get this straight. The latest way to do update is with engine ON? I go august 1st and want to at least tell them that if that is correct .

Not sure how gas engine will stay running for whole update? It usually stops after just a short period if I rev throttle to get it to start gas engine in the first place.

If AC is set to Hi or Low ice will stay on.
I had one service done couple years ago (I do not remember what was done) when I got into my truck the hour meter had 1 hour and 12 more minutes than it had when I turned it off, the AC was on max cool temp at Low and my remaining miles for the current tank was much less. The truck was in shop about 2.5 hours and I was waiting in waiting area. You could have hung meat in back seat.

I haven't tried it but I read if you have the truck in neutral (or maybe in park?) and put the pedal to the floor, it'll start and idle the ice. I'm sure ford has a backdoor that allows them to bypass the auto shutoff.

If you switch over to sport mode, the engine stays on all the time.

I'd bet they can't be running the AC at all in order to keep the ICE running - when they are updating the AC control module software.

In fact this makes me wonder, since the system will enable the AC automatically and without an official "button" pressed if humidity is too high - how is that prevented?
Or just deal with resetting error codes in communication with the ACCM when it's done.

I'm sure the truck just needs to be On in Ready mode - so the module is getting it's required 220V, makes sense.
ICE running or not doesn't matter for that to happen.

True, I had the backup camera freeze done today. Took about 1.5 hours. Tech put jump from his escape to my jump pins furnished 13.6 volts. After he left I went out and started, getting CEL. Have appointment for him to come back Monday to check codes and make plans. (This is my backup so time down is not an issue). Tech suspects all codes generated during update did not get reset at end. When I texted him he was already over halfway to his next appointment, was booked for tomorrow leaving Monday before noon. No problem for me.
