After watching a Lobo barely beat a hybrid on TFL Truck at a mile high elevation, I'm just not that impressed with the Lobo trim.

Due to my combo of on road and off, I selected Summit Trail Climber SUV² in 255/50R20 for my Maverick's summer duties and Hankook Dynapro AT2 in 235/75R17 for winter duties. I'm surprised how well the Summit tires handle and they are 700 AA rated.

If I had all that scratch tied up in an over spec'd and wrecked Maverick, I guess wouldn't be impressed by a Lobo either. Personally, I'll take the Lobo over that, lol.

Get a 245/50-19 for sure. And in Florida, why the hell not summer tires?

Not many choices for 225/55/19 but many more for 245/50/19 (which would be the same circumference). Stock load index is 103

I'm looking at doing this size next year.

245/50/19

Above mentioned Michelins are available in stock size and 245/50/19

Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 - load index 104 Treadwear 340 A A

Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 - load index 105 Treadwear 300 A A

yes, if a person comments on the stock 19s it's usually negative, but months ago I looked into tire options and if you want a summer tire there are MUCH better options for 19s than 17s or 18s. so, Ford did the Lobo right, at the least.

255/50-19 also has a lot of options and it's 29" tall, which is the same as the 235/65-17 stock Tremor size.

I am waiting for the new Micheline Cross Climate 3 Sport. Great reviews. I would be interested in putting on a larger diameter size to fill the wheel well. Anyone know how much taller I could go without rubbing problems?

Pirelli p zero maybe a possibility
Yeah I always liked Pirelli for summer rain capable tires. That's probably what I'd run up here for a summer only car with summer only tires.

Beware on the P zero though, there's an all season version nobody likes.

Probably the kinds of tires under consideration should be those popular on BMW X5, Audi Q5, Mercedes GL series etc.

as with any other vehicle you can make it faster with cash money so that's not much of a concern IMHO. I mean your lariat looks nice but the maverick lobo looks 100x better.

Thanks, I'm working on it as health and time permits. I like more of a light off road street truck. I'm digging the hybrid mileage too. I'll accept 37avg miles per gallon for being 0.4 of a second slower than a lobo per TFL Truck. I actually use the increased hauling and towing capacity that the lobo doesn't have.

All in all the Lobo looks good. It just doesn't perform as well as I had expected.

Trust me I hear you and only thing that really matters is how you like not others I'm loving my tremor, mpg don't matter when you only put 6 k miles a Year on a vehicle. Honestly I am not impressed with the performance still praying for a ST with a 350 HP 350 tq 2.3 eco awd, build that and I'm ready to sign.

That was rude. I see you that have a typo: Tom-Tucker should have had an F in place of the second T to suit your personality and grammar level. A lowered and de-rated capacity truck such as the Lobo isn't suited to my needs and would be prone to scraping it's underbelly on my land. As it is I'm taking it easy until I can install the Rough Country Lift kit. FYI: Although Ford took its sweet time, my truck is fully repaired with all OEM parts. I'll spend my money as I see fit and refuse to be judged by imaginary performance experts mouthing off in disrespect.

I'm no where close to needing tires yet (as much as the OEM tires make me sad) but I just want to see what you guys think of what you like.
I live in Florida so no snow but much rain. I want something that gives good feedback and grip while keeping stock wheels. The 19" 7.5" does make it tough though reason I want other opinions.
I know what you mean. I don't want to purchase new tires when the stocks are still in good shape.

My next size I want to consider is a 235/40/19

It'll lower it about another inch and with the wider tire to be square on the factory rim it should be an added benefit to the LOBO.

Saw these - Hankook Kinergy Pt H737. Apparently they have a 90K mile tread warranty ... Yeah, 90,000 Mile tread warranty is nuts to think about.

respectfully, the only reason to do that is appearance and while a shorter tire does lower the vehicle, it's going to create a lot of wheel arch gap which will look ridiculous.

also, everyone can do whatever they like with their maverick, but if you like driving in a spirited fashion maybe don't put a cheap hankook all season on it. I have dedicated summer tires, but it's also viable to use high performance all-season.

The appearance is not the only thing. Switching to a wider tire (235) and reducing the aspect ratio to 40 will allow the LOBO to have more contact and less side wall roll, but not reduced so much that the tire can't support a load. Also, lowering one more inch will allow it to be more stable when doing LOBO things without having to make too many drastic changes. The factory 225/55/19 wrangler tires are not ideal IMO for a LOBO.

Yes, getting a proper sport tire like the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S XL would be ideal. I just couldn't believe seeing a tire with a 90K tread warranty.

The other issue would be calibrating the computer because having a smaller tire will miscalculate the odometer in a negative direction.

I’m going with Toyo Proxes ST III:
235/55r19
9.3wide & 29.2tall & 5.1sidewall

Compared to OEM Goodyear HT:
225/55/19
8.9wide & 28.7tall & 4.9sidewall

Should be grippier & more comfy;)

I understand 40 series tires but I do not understand a very short tire unless you're slamming the truck on coilovers or airbags. at stock ride height, even on a lobo, a 235/40-19 is going to be a huge mistake.

255/50-19 and 265/45-19 would be much better choices, assuming they fit. at discount tire and probably other chains, you should be able to pay for mount & test fit on one tire, then buy the rest if it clears, or choose a different size if it doesn't.
