The Pre Collision Assist Not Available warning light has come on while driving my ‘23 Ford Maverick Lariat hybrid ten times in the last month. I have gone through the reset directions per the manual and looked for blockage and found nothing. I took it to my dealer yesterday and they are telling me it was damaged and not covered by the warranty. I have 14,000 miles on it. They said it was probably bumped in a parking lot and broke two internal brackets holding the sensors. My grill is not broken nor is there even a paint scratch, much less a dent, to the bumper or front. The sensor box is not damaged either. Seems like a $585.00 rip off since I don’t see any trace of damage to the front. Any thoughts? Been awhile since I’ve been on here and no major issues since I finally got it in March 2023. Thanks for your assistance.

I would have them to personally show me the damage and how that could be with no other damage surrounding it.

They took $585 to tell you to go f yourself?

That's insane.

I would be back at the dealer demanding my money back. "Probably" is not the answer you're there for, especially after paying a small fortune for the zero value they provided.

Also, get yourself a $20 OBDII reader. It'll tell you the exact code it's throwing and it could prove that they're lying and defrauded you.

An OBDII reader isn't typically going to read things like codes for that.

An adapter cable and FORScan, yes.

I guess I'm not too versed in the difference. I have both a Bluetooth and wired adapter, and have not noticed differences in functionality.

A basic OBDII scanner might only pull the OBDII spec codes, maybe ABS and Transmission; or into the manufacturer-defined PCM range. I wouldn't take for granted being able to access codes in stuff like the IPMA with any detail.

I would recommend that you get with your dealer and ask them to get the Ford representative contact you or get the contact information for you to contact them

Did they charge you $585 to diagnose? Or is that the cost to repair? If it was to diagnose then I would demand to see the damaged pieces for that money.
That’s what they are quoting me for the repair, plus tax.

its College Station Ford, here in College station, TX

I would get a second opinion. Did they show you where this supposed damaged part is located? It should be easy to see it based on the manual/
No, it’s been at the dealer since Monday and the only communication s that to fix, it was $585.00 plus tax

I thought the pre-collision assist sensor was in front of the rear view mirror at the top of the windshield? Or am I incorrect?

Update: after going around and around with the dealer, they are claiming that someone either backed into the front of the truck or nudged to break brackets. I pointed out AGAIN, that the sensor box was not cracked, grill not broken nor any scratches on the bumper to indicate someone bumped it. But I needed my truck, so here is the receipt and the video of the area. Thanks to everyone’s help. I’ll take it up with Ford
