Why the 2025 is less safe than the earlier years

You gotta love this dumb@$$ trend of people telling other people what to think in the headline of the post or article without any real data or supporting facts to back it up (see all political posts on the internet). Hell, you don't even need any relevant facts, you have your forgone conclusion right there in the title of the article. :cautious:
The petty little things that get posted on here - ecoboost vs hybrid, FWD hybrid vs AWD hybrid, AWD Ecoboost vs AWD hybrid, 22-24 front ends vs 2025 front end, synch 3 vs synch 4, etc... It's great to compare, but without relative facts or data and everyone "pulling for the home team" it's useless and never ends. :poop:

There, I fixed it for you. Touch screen cars take fractions of a second longer to adjust the controls, but those fractions of a second do not decrease the safety of the vehicle because those same touch screen cars have a whole suite of other safety features that make them safer than non touch screen cars, which is born out in the data on which cars are involved in crashes.

I fail to see how some other minor improvements compensate for not even having your eyes on the road with an MY25 model.

Well what is this in the JD Power IQS survey? More and more complaining about app bloat, distracting, unneeded, nested stuff on screens is a growing complaint. And while people like the visual appeal to the larger screens more and more are questioning the usefulness... Strange, I don't know where I have heard any of this before.

How long are you staring at this screen? I almost guarantee that the people who think they're reaching the physical knobs without looking are actually subconsciously looking at least initially. Not a big deal. But neither is THIS touchscreen controlled climate control. Most of us have decided what we like and don't like. And even empirical data probably wouldn't change our mind😅

Its a never ending battle here lol but im with you on this. nobody is winning or losing but for the love of arguing...:devilish:

More parts = more chances for something to fail, y'all already have a buggy sync 3 and now you have to worry about knobs and buttons breaking. Also MY25 screen is big enough, i don't have to look at my phone. 4/5 times I catch your fellow 1st genners on their phones, let me guess, BECAUSE THE SCREEN ISN'T GOOD ENOUGH EVEN WITH AA OR ACP?!?! Dont even get me started on that little cubby...BUT I WILL ANYWAYS, because i love to argue as much as everyone in this thread. That thing is a lemon, all you can do is justify how the lemonade you have is the best in the world but at the end of the day IT'S JUST LEMONADE🍵 MY25 can make the same damn lemonade without it. "Its so hard to change fan speed" "its so confusing to use" yadayadayada yall ever think you're the problem and its not the car?

Okay im done lol I could say so much more but im staying somewhat on the threads topic😅

I don't look at my phone while driving unless stopped and in park. I hate big screens on cars and phones. A phone is to make calls on, a screen is to watch TV on. I don't need that screen time while driving. drove 300 miles yesterday, looked at my phone when we took a rest area break. Nothing important on it. No missed calls because the Maverick has hands free calling, no texts I needed read out that is why I disabled text messages on screen . If there is an emergency everyone I know will call me. if it is a text it is not an emergency. If it is an email it is not an emergency. P.S. I like the knobs for climate but that was not a deal breaker for a 2025. The DASH was not for me. Didn;t like the digital dash, I hate the digital gas gauge in the 2025.
You listed a bunch of things you don't need or dont want, and thats totally fine. If I could cut cost by removing what I don't need or don't want I'd either do that or get something else vs what I have. But the main point is it's not a safety hazard until you use it unsafely. Im not directing this specifically to you, I'm just pointing out the truth. If you can't control it while driving then pull over and do that but im sure in due time anyone would adapt to it. Its like some cars with 500+ HP, is more HP a safety hazard? NO its the person that doesn't know how to handle it thats the safety hazard. Don't blame the vehicle, blame the people who use it irresponsibly.

Again YOUR opinion versus the article. At least the OP posted a link to support his opinion.
I already linked evidence in an earlier post on this thread. I’ll reiterate it just for you:

In the list of most deadly cars, almost all of them are low tech, old school cars with knobs and manual controls.

In the list of least deadly cars, almost all of them are rolling computers on wheels with lots of touch screens and few, if any manual knobs and buttons.

When you are biased and are wanting to prove something you believe, it is pretty easy to design a research study to try to prove your point, like touch screens are distracting. But the logical leap of “touch screens are distracting” to “touch screens decrease the safety of a vehicle” is not born out in the data.

I have a 2023 BUT I recently got a ride in the new 2025 at later in evening with sun low. I know I often cant see my 2023 screen when sun is low and a lot of glare. I got to see if the bigger 2025 was better NO its not . Plus the OP post has a study .

Two clear camps here. Its fine no difference and no its is not as good longer time trying to see screen. MOST of the time the screen control is fine. BUT I have seen it myself. When sun is low the screen hard to see. it just is.

BUT I know I will convince no one .

Oh I often drove a subura for work and it had on screen HVAC. Man did it stink. The screen was huge too.

Does the post take into account the newer 360º camera views on the 2025?

I listed the things you mentioned. Unlike most people I don't watch the screen while driving. Used the built-in navigation the last two days multiple times and turned the voice command volume up so it could tell when a turn was coming. Then I would glance at the screen to verify what I heard. As I posted much earlier on in this thread 2024 owners will say it is better and 2025 owners will try to convince us we are stupid. I bought what I wanted, for my reasons, to please me. I hope that is why you bought what you did.
Yes, I hope everyone gets what they want. I just dont get the baseless opinions like "buttons on my 24 is safer than 25's touch screen" show us proof that accidentally pressing the wrong thing on a 24 or 25 causes the car to create an accident, worst case scenario is instead of adjusting the fan speed now the mother-in-law is on the phone.

My post in this thread is just for laughs, adapting to the environment sort of thing.

It appears that the futurists, engineers, and companies are already rethinking the display and distractions. This is all concept, but it is an indication that things should be getting better and taking into account some of the concerns people are raising now. We have seen some of this is already appearing in production vehicles in China with reconfigurable interior space. So this presentation sounds like some distant future, but we see it is already starting to happen now in other markets.

I'd note that a good drive is not constantly looking ahead out the windshield, but also frequently checking both outside mirrors and the rear view. And during this sweep, the temperature control with its red & blue is with9n my field of vision as my gaze passes over it.

I know I have (or had) far wider peripheral vision than most (I could see the posts decades ago in driver's training before they moved!), but it can't be by so much that I'm the only one noticing it.

I can just touch the screen where I saw the controls in th e last few seconds.

Or it might be the fact that we old farts feel stupid talking to an inanimate object no matter how seemless it works.
Anyone who claims both to have never shouted at an inanimate object, and to have changed all the plugs on a 70s chevy small block, is lying!

It's different when you're mad at it. It hears you then😂😂😂😂. I'm an auto mechanic. There are vehicles today that will make the 70s era small block Chevy seem like a cake walk, The 3 valve 5,4 with the breakaway plugs is one of them along with some import and domestic v6 where you have to remove the intake
