Yowsa- I would contact Ford and start working on a diminished value claim/lawsuit- That's pretty horrific- I still am grumpy about the crappy headliner replacement that was done on my rig but at least I had a dealer that took the truck back and spent half a day re-aligning everything , cleaning the headliner and such -

Makes you wonder how many miles you had on it when you left it vs what's on it now?

Looks to me like the dealer was anxious to have billable hours for warranty work they could profit on by by doing cheap work and bit off more than they could chew at the tech's expense. The tech seemed to get his recourse whether his carelessness was intentional or not. Sorry this happened to you, you really should not have to be leary of getting dealer work done. I guess that's the world we live in today. I'm sure you wish you had followed your gut feeling and fixed them yourself or continued living with them.

Man your comment gave me chills. I should have went with my gut feeling. I’m so sad and disappointed. It’s like this issue is really not fully fixable at this point. The truck is never going to be the same again.
Everything is fixable but everything from my paint to my interior to the windshield wiper cowl is scratched and damaged and or not assembled correctly as of right now. It’s heart breaking to see her like this. She is my baby. I babied my truck her whole life. Garage kept and kept out of the snow/salt w/ super low miles.
When I dropped her off, she was in basically showroom condition.

My 22 Maverick the dash was rattling and so was the passenger side front seat so I brought it into the Ford dealer for inspection
They call me back and say they are going to replace the dash. I was not expecting that at all…
My gut told me to tell them to NOT replace the dash but they said no we got this and can fix it no problem.
They called me at 4pm this past Monday. I told my advisor I’ll pick her up tomorrow morning so that I can fill up the gas and whatnot with their rental.
42 days later I finally pickup my truck.
They gave me a loaner 2025 Ford Escape
3-cylinder turbo for the entire duration.
You know what I did? I spent yesterday morning for a couple hours washing and vacuuming their Escape before going to get my Maverick back so their car looked mint when I brought it back.
I was expecting the same decency with my Maverick.
So I do the paperwork with them and give them their keys back and they hand me my keys and say I’m good to go. Your Maverick is parked out front.
I walk out to my car and walk up to it and was immediately in total, utter disgust. Keep in mind I keep my car waxed and mint on a regular basis.L

Here is what I walked out to my car and how she looked upon pickup:

1. Bird poop ALL over my car and I’m not talking one or two/three bird droppings. It was absolutely covered. Like a giant carnivore bird crapped out an entire rodent or somthing on my car and they didn’t even bother to wash it?
Unreal. All over a $700 Tonneau cover.

2. The new dashboard is scratched and so is glove box and my center console.

3. They put deep scratches in my garage kept, never even seen winter, super low miles 14,xxx Maverick’s paint that are DEEP and most of them are all the way through to the bare metal… 😭

4. the door seal is now incorrectly installed on both front doors (laying on top of the other seal and not butted up like it’s supposed to be) and it’s TORN/RIPPED… 😭😡

5. The new dashboard rattles worse than the original one did over bumps.

6. There was a mysterious “bonus/extra” orange clip just laying in drink holder next to the gear selector.

7. They left multiple clips left hanging and not attached to where they go (under seat and under dash. Which makes you wonder if there’s more stuff you can not see, that’s left not correctly installed. Like behind the dash…

8. The headliner is now dirty and it’s exposed on the driver side from being tucked under the seal.

9. I think my hood was left open a long time because it has bird poop under the hood and is very dirty / dusty now.

10. Now when you drive the car, it smells like burning oil coming from the engine bay.

11. The Windshield wiper cowl is now not sitting flush / is misaligned with the windshield which will allow water/ debris to freely go into the gap/space.

I’m absolutely shocked and horrified.
I did talk to the manger and he did say we should I’ll make it right with me. Which I do appreciate. However for the dealer to even let my truck end up and than leave like this is absolutely shocking.

I show the service advisor all of the issues and he instructs me to go sit in waiting room while he talks to the manager. Maybe an hour or more passes and he comes back and says you can bring it back on the 9th and we will fix it all. Get a load of this. They were going to have me leave with the truck just like this. All covered in bird poop and filthy.
So I ask to talk to the manager myself.
The service advisor says ok and instructs me to wait in the waiting room for him. The advisor finally comes back and says he’s in a meeting can he just call you later? I replied no I want to talk to him and show him everything myself. So I wait another hour! Manager finally comes down and I show him everything. He tells me he owns a Maverick also and apologized. He asked me if I wanted it cleaned before I take it home. I said yes. He said give us 20 minutes and I’ll have to back to you. About 20/30 min goes by and all they cleaned off was the bird poop off the tonneau cover…
So I was at the dealer for almost 4 hours for all of this. Now I have to bring it back on the 9th and get another loaner while they supposedly “fix” it.

Hard lesson learned…. Don’t let anyone touch your car. Not even the dealer.
I’m a very talented car detailer and know how to turn wenches and fix stuff.
I would have NEVER EVER left someone’s car like this in this kinda condition…

It’s so easily to carefully remove a door seal and NOT tear it and it’s very easy to know how to “fit” a door seal so it fits correctly and does NOT overlap and lay on top of each other….
That’s common sense basics right there.
So I’m in utter disbelief and heart broken.

My poor first year Maverick w/ factory options that’s they no longer even come with. She kinda a rare truck being velocity blue hybrid XLT with Luxury package and the painted mirrors and only 14,000 miles…. That has never seen winter and was garage kept and babied its whole life. She didn’t deserve this.

What should I do? I’m so upset about this. I wish they never touched my truck. They did more hard my a million times over, than good.

Holy crap man, that sucks!!! I don't blame you for being pissed, we all would be. You've clearly done a good job documenting everything which is something we should all do if ever in a similar situation. Because of your experience, I plan on snapping a few interior and exterior pictures before having anyone touch mine. This way I'd have before and after pictures for comparison. I'd give them one chance to get it right and verify the issues they will address. It will cost them a fortune with all the scratches, inside and out. I don't know how they could fix all that interior damage without having to replace everything? If they refuse to repair any of those damages or don't fix them to your satisfaction, I'd contact ford. Wishing you all the best getting this resolved but I think at best you have a big headache ahead!

Very sorry to hear the dealer did that to your truck. I see you also live in Ohio. If I had to guess Krieger/Byers/Masheter?
I hope For makes this as right as they can for you.

This is why I don't trust any dealer to do work on my vehicles, because I've been bitten in the past, but nowhere near this bad.

I'm really sorry you are going through this...

Only like 7/8 miles more were on it when I picked it up.

Yeah, as someone asked: who and where is that Dealer? Or is the Forum restricted from publishing that to protect the "guilty"?

Okay, I've seen a dash install that bad before in a Ford ... it was me, beater but DD Escort, late Sunday afternoon and the heater core explodes just as I fire it up. It's getting dark in a few hours and it needs to be in service again 6AM monday, barely caught the parts store before 4pm close, heater core is pretty buried in those, had to rip the whole dash out, did it in a frenzy in the driveway in about 4 or 5 hours. I dunno if I manage to mark the paint, scuff seals or shit like that though even doing it in a careless rage.

Wow. I’d contact your regional guy for compensation. I don’t expect the dealer who did that is gonna be able to make it right you’re gonna need a check for mistreatment of a vehicle causing loss of value it looks a little bit bigger than a small claims court thing I’d really start with the regional ombudsman
Contact who?
thanks for your reply

I don't know if the car manufactures still have ZONE REPs but I would see if there is one and contact them.
Ford Motor Company should get involved in this.
I am very particular about my cars too.
With all that damage I would raise holy-hell and ask for a new car.

what a load of cr-- (in more ways than one) - hopefully you had 'before pictures' when you dropped it off. I would insist they replace that glove compartment door as it's replaceable and then absolutely sit on them until they make Everything as it was when you left it. Replacing a dash is a lot of work, I'm shocked that Ford approved it in that it was just rattling (not that 'just rattling' isnt' annoying) and maybe just compensate you some $ instead. Did they actually Find the rattle? I really can't imagine how I would have reacted to all of this other than to say I wouldn't have been so civil.

Holy crap. I would be furious. Sorry to hear that you have to go through all of this trouble. And the worst part is that most of times these suckers get away with murder. I would definitely contact Ford as well and send them all of these pictures. Choose another dealer as well. But unfortunately, the current one has to fix their own mistakes.
Not necessarily. My local dealer did the airbag recall & managed to damage the wiring that runs up the pillar. It caused the key fobs to quit. Annoying but driveable. Decided to take a short road trip 200 miles away. While there, the true problem presented itself. The computer wouldn't even let me into the dash display to put it in tow mode. I had it towed to the nearest dealer once I could get a tow truck with wheel dollies to get it out of the parking space. Two months later the dealer finally isolated the problem. Nearest dealer said I wasn't responsible for paying for it then said they wouldn't release the truck until they were paid. We called Ford corporate. A few hours later, I get a phone call "I have been informed that we need to get your truck back to you. When can you pick it up?" Picked it up the next day & never paid a penny.
