Would a 24 inch breaker bar and a 13/16 deep impact socket be sufficient to change a flat tire?or would a regular depth socket be better?the 24 inch bar may be a little overkill but at 74 years of life i dont have the strength i used to have😜

I'm fan of my well used four-way lug wrench and homemade breaker bar. I keep behind the rear seat.

I've never had a problem using a four-way lug wrench.
If it gets stuck, you can wiggle it with both hands in order to release it.
And if you don't have a breaker bar, you can use both sides of the 4way lug wrench by pulling and pushing. If you are careful and can get it in the correct position, you can use your foot while you're pulling.
It stores nicely behind the seat.

Using it won't void your warranty. 😆

Its not a 13/16ths socket. The entire vehicle except for the 22-24 oil filter is metric. You need a 21mm socket. The 13/16ths is about 1/2mm too small, and will probably damage the 2-part lugnuts.

Really? My 3/4"-13/16" flip socket fits perfectly. IMO, 21mm is too loose, and could cause more damage to the 2-piece OEM lugnuts.

A deep socket is the way to go, and you'll probably want a 4 to 6 inch extension to be sure your ratchet will be clear of the fenders

I think the manufacturers purposely go with sizes that'll be 'close enough' to work with metric and Imperial sockets. That way the odds are better that anyone will have the correct socket

19mm = 3/4"
21mm = 13/16"

If you stay with the OEM 2-piece lug nuts, buy a set of cheap open-ended nuts in the right size and keep them with the tool kit

If the OEM nuts have swelled up and you destroy the caps while removing them, at least you'll have a set of functional nuts to install the spare with

I note the OP is a Senior living in the South, having lived down here 35 plus years. I have had Ford vehicles with the two piece nuts that did not corrode or swell over the years. I even made occasional winter trips into "salt" country visiting family over the holidays. Never had a lugnut swell, but did have a couple of caps come loose after 200,000 miles though (Many tire rotations).

Oh, right

Lucky you guys, this is just a case of my northern thinking popping up 😄

Wish I lived somewhere without winter and road salt 😕

I prefer a flip-socket set and a standard breaker bar. I have a collapsible one in the truck, but it sorta sucks because it doesn't flex like a regular one does. If you have the space, I'd just get a regular one.

I'm not a fan of 4-ways. Awkward to store (even behind the seat; a large cross-shaped thing versus a flat rod), and I feel like they have less leverage than a breaker bar. If lugs get stuck in it, it's a pain in the rear to get them out, whereas I can pull the flip socket off the extension bar and smack the lug nut out with a punch and a hammer.

Breaker bar works great, so does the factory tool, although it's a little finicky. No need to use an impact for these, better to have a torque wrench. I got myself a kit with the breaker bar, torque wrench, all six of the most common vehicle lug nut sizes (including the required 21mm for the Maverick), and works with all three of our vehicles.

I have a CARTMAN Telescoping Lug Wrench, Wheel Wrench with Standard CR-V Sockets 17/19, 21/22mm. That extends to give me 21".
Have it next to the Ford jack kit behind the rear seat.

Next I'm thinking about a smaller 1/2" Impact than the mid-torque one (2861-21) I use in the garage.

It’s what I carry under back seat. Long breaker bar and socket. Removed from my F250 and RV, whose lugs are torqued very high, and a bear to remove on side of any road.

I am hoping to install a tool box in the bed with hopes to put in a small floor Jack, some tools, like the 12 vdc impact wrench and compressor I have.

I'd re-think the M12 version. While the specs may say it can, I've had my mid-torque M18 2861-20 hesitate on getting these lugs loose.

I carry the same set as that Cartman although I think it's made be Gorilla. I also have that M12 impact and it's lacking in power. Go with something bigger unless you're going to bust them loose with the Cartman first.

Thanks for the info. I'll give the M12 a try as I do break the lugs loose by hand, then use the impact to speed things up.
