I like the fact that I can use my 11" tablet as my infotainment/info screen and put in the speakers that I want to.

What hasn't been addressed is when you install the rear seats, how do people access them? No side doors are seen. Do they climb over the sides? Do the front seats move out of the way and you have to wait until all rear passengers are in?
Would appear yes, just like an old school Jeep, Bronco, Ramcharger, you flipped up the seat for people to get in the back. Actually works well as long as you aren't mobility challenged.

I'll wait for a 1.25 two cylinder 25 mile PHEV (or a rotary) with 10-12" behind one row seats and 6'4" bed "camper special" maybe 5" narrower than maverick.
At least you can get a 5' camper for the slate.

But that was the early report before they just told us $20k with the 7500 tax incentive... Too much money for what it is. If you have to use the tax break to make it affordable when it is this bare bones something is wrong. You get a lot more for the same money in the Maverick to be honest.
I read UNDER $20k after Rebate.

I guess we will see. I watched Out of Spec last night and they said $27k. So this will flush out soon enough. The fact we are talking about a shell with 150 miles of range and slow charging for that kind of money should make people pause. And still needs a tax break to make it seem attractive. The Maverick is looking better all the time.

I think there is a market for this type of vehicle, I just hope it's big enough sustain the business. There are plenty of service industry types where the base 150 mile range would be acceptable. I also like the simplicity of it as more vehicles are becoming driving tablets.

Just chatted with slate.

The vehicle includes cruise control standard (I didn't see that on the site)
The SUV variants include a roll cage with integral side airbags

You can charge it on your Credit Card when you purchase :) (I wonder if I get 5% back on Prime?)

A perfect replacement for my 2011 Ranger. Except my Ranger is a manual and that can never be replaced!

I predict the Slate will be a huge success with two crowds. First, twenty-something single males. Second, fleets.

  • The twenty-something male will look at these things and go wild customizing them.
  • The fleets will look at the total cost of ownership and start counting the money they saved.

The problem with this and all electric vehicles is the range sucks. Only good for a city enviroment or someone who never travels far. Until they get the range where it can start to compete with ICE its a no go for many. Also the price is already rising and it hasn't even been produced yet. Despite all that its cool to see others trying to make small pickups. Wish chevy would bring the S10 back.

I love the concept, not the backer (bozo bezos). I think if they actually find a way to provide good support for the vehicle it could become something. Should come packaged with a 3d printer.

Anyone who doesn't think GM is watching Maverick sales with loathing and hatred and a determination to steal those sales doesn't know GM very well.

Golf cart at best!
ROTFL. That's what full-size truck drivers say about the Maverick. Guess it depends on where you're standing.

Like most things, price increases are expected. But with the Maverick now starting at like $27k, this truck being around $20k after rebate should appeal to many. Especially the crank window crowd. Lol.
