‘Slate starts shipping to buyers in the fourth quarter of 2026’
I’d be very surprised if it ever makes it to production.
But the specs, if met, range and price.
The thing would be great for an urban puddle jumper.
As for crash ratings, testing. We shall see.
But I doubt it .

Top speed 90 mph,
Interstate at 80 mph, range would be something like 20 miles tops.
Even with some aero dynamic thoughts.
Zero to sixty in five minutes.
Quarter mile time, after lunch.
I bet there’s quicker golf carts. :XD

I no longer think it fugly, it looks adequate.
I’ll be keeping my Ecoboost.

Keep me with an ICE, even if it's 'puter controlled.... That Slate size reminds me of the earlier model Colorado/Canyon trucks.
Not for me, ' but you be free to be' 👍

Looks very much like the 84 Bronco II I had, if the roof was taken off. They should sell well. There is a need for a bare bones EV.

Guess it competes with the Mav as something that provides the basic needs of a small truck, but wow the Slate can definitely be...basic-er. Some Mavs will feel like a Rolls Royce comparatively.

I really like the strip down get only what you want approach for this. However the short range and slow charging speeds will be what holds it back. 150 miles on small battery and 240 on the large with a max charging speed as of this announcement 120kw with no idea of the charging curve.

I wish them well and I do hope it does well, but still talking about a $27k truck before the tax incentive. I feel it highlights how well Ford is actually doing with the Maverick to be able to keep prices in the $20k area for the lower trims and are still relatively nicely equipped at that. This truck will need to have the 240 mile pack as the minimum, but as you can see that price shoots up fast. I think it really needs to be priced in the teens as the starting point.

As a cross reference the Telo appears to be bringing a lot to the small truck space, but similar challenges. I hope they all do well. Ford has proved it with the Maverick that there is demand in this small truck space, but the price has to be right.

This looks neat. I really like the small size as even the Mav is a little "big" for my tastes. I really want that 80's Japanese import size truck to exist again, but I'm afraid with all of the modern safety considerations it just isn't possible anymore.

Can't wait to find out that, like the Kindle, this price is for the ad-supported version.

You know it's only a matter time.

Said to be $25k base price, not $27k.
