Drove my 2024 Hybrid maverick 200 miles today It has 950 miles on it now. Drove most of it at 80mph. I got a average of 34.8mpg.
Is this normal for a hybrid with under 1k miles?

What MPG were you anticipating?

Was the mileage you stated via the trip computer or manually figured at the pump? There may be a difference

That's actually better than the EPA estimate by a couple of miles -

Ford Maverick Hybrid fuel mpg fuel

That right there hurt your efficiency. The truck is reasonably aerodynamic, but that speed hurts.

For 80 MPH that's very good.

Over the past 5 days I have driven down 71 to Cincinnati from NW Columbus and back - roughly 275 mile round trip - 4 times.

I drove between 70-85 mph (with most miles drive between 72-77mph) and I never broke 30mpg on any trip.

I've come to grips with the fact the Maverick cannot achieve stated fuel economy.

What type of MAverick do you have?

At your speed? Absolutely. The ideal continuous driving speed for most ICE vehicle is around 45 mph; with a hybrid it is likely less since it excels in city driving. On the highway with our first Maverick I tried to keep it at 65-70 and got closer to 40 mpg, even with a load. I suspect we will get the same with our '25 Mav hybrid, but haven't really done highway yet to check.

Depends entirely on how you drive. Slow down and watch the mileage increase- or don't if you are in a hurry.

No it doesn't. If I drop down to 65mph it may get 31mpg on the highway.

In the City I drive as conservative as possible and right to the speed limit and I have never averaged above 37mpg.

It's still great MPG, it just is not the stated MPG.
