My latch was replaced since I had to slam the seat up to get it to stay. There a replacement part covered under warranty. Try search and type in "rear seat latch" and the replacement parts number is in one of the comments. Dealer picked up and changed with oil change. Now happy camper.

Oh heck, I used to use a bumper jack on my rusty 68 Impala to crawl under and wire up my exhaust with a coat hanger. It's called evolution (not sure how I slid through).
Just you talking about it, brought back some scary memories.
Along with patching the exhaust pipe with a soup can and hose clamps 😬

I'm sure glad the emergency brake held.
Jack stands!!!. I was using coat hangers and Soup cans who can afford jack stands.

I had a friend in high school who watched his father die doing exactly that . Jack slipped while he was under the car. The trauma still haunts him 50 years later. Don't be that guy!

Smart! I picked up a piece of scrap iron (it's about 8' X 8" X 1/4") from a local welders shop years ago and it has transferred from vehicle to vehicle over the years ever since I had to change a flat in the Texas summer heat and the jack base just pushed right through the asphalt into the ground while tying to crank up the car ;)
Or you could call AAA. That’s my plan😊.

That's a great idea, never though of carrying a platform for the jack.
Yep...usually the plywood is for under the jack when the ground is not hard where you are changing the tire. Also....so you don't have to jack as high with that extra 3/4 to an inch of wood under the base.

Noble thought to protect your fellow man but some of us feel that life without a good dose of risk isn't life at all. Granted, at 68 years old I don't chase adrenaline like I once did but on the same hand I feel bad that this over regulated world prevents people from doing the stupid things I did when I was younger. Again, your compassion for your fellow man is admirable.

Yes, the rear seat cushion latching in the up position is especially helpful for us hybrid guys as it makes it one less thing to hold while we swap out the 12v battery from its undersized, sharp edged hole.
