I'm sure the coverage on that is just great too. And mine includes TV! 5 GB of unlimited data isn't enough either when you run maps and stuff. I have 2 gigs right now

Using the "hey google" requires cellular data. I don't have that lol. How do you use it via bluetooth, what are the steps?

Let's see if I've got this correct. You've got 2 gigs now, w/ TV and you're saying that 5G isn't enough for $15 a month.
So, if you have 2 gigs you have a data plan. I'm willing to bet that you have unlimited texting also.

Pull off the road if you want to text and just use your phone. Not being able to text while driving doesn't sound like a problem. My opinion of course.

We don't pay for cellular signal. Too expensive to have unlimited mobile data every month! So it won't work without?

You need a cell plan. That's how texting works outside of being hooked up to your home wifi.

Hello to all on the form,

Picked up my new Maverick last week. Loving most of it so far, but a few things I am unsure about. Most of this relates to the texting situation. I have tried time and time again to un-sync my phone, shut things off, and get the device to connect for texting. I have been able to get calling to work fine, I can't get it to text though. Whenever I use the voice command, I get "sync is unable to message through your device, check device settings".

For reference, I use an android device and I tried wired and wireless connection. I could only get it to work through android auto, using the google assistant, which requires an internet connect I don't always have. Would love to know if anyone has a fix....

Fair enough. You aren't going to like the answer and you're going to fight it.
The answer to your question is No.
Your Maverick has no independent cell phone capabilities, available to the consumer. They may have a subscription base system, (pay to play) but I'm not sure.
You have to connect to your truck through your phone. There is no way to just use the truck for texting, voice or data.
Your Maverick has connection capabilities for updates, but that strictly for Ford use.

imo the previous responses are correct. as a suggestion, i would recommended updating your cellphone and cell/data plan

Hello to all on the form,

To make matters worse, my driver's side window makes a buzzing sound now. Pretty sure I got a defective motor, as it's only been 2 weeks. Getting that solved next week.

please let us know what they find regarding the drivers side window noise.

Have you turned on "Hey Google" There's an option in your phone to turn on "Hey Google", and also while driving , I've got it turned on for "While Driving" only.

So, I just say "Hey Google" , then say "text jimmy bob"

Go in your phone settings and make sure you don't have Google Assistant set to "Wi-Fi Only". I know that granular of detail is possible for some things.

I have 5 gigs a month and download maps on wifi. Never run into data caps.

Otherwise the only way to send messages with a Ford Maverick that has no data plan would be to drive it to them.

Good grief. Okay, I'm sorry but can you detail exactly what you're paying now for your family plan for just calling and texting? Because unless you're on something like Tracfone with pay per usage then you have to be over paying for getting nothing in return. There are very reasonable providers for unlimited talk, text & data.
