Can xlt Mav read Text messages

I have a Mav being built not yet received a hybrid xlt no fancy options,.I hope this is correct forum to ask this question,. Can the Mav read back texts messages i get when my phone is connected with bluetooth? I have a 2020 Ecosport now which has sync 3. When I get a text message I can have the car read the message while driving. I can answer some of them, with pre written responses the Sync 3 has. I do this without having to plug in via usb cable All done over the bluetooth.

Can the base xlt Mav do any of that?

My xl hybrid can read them out loud and you can speak your responses. As far as I know I have to have my android phone plugged in.

I know mine can when I've got it plugged in with Android Auto. I don't know if it will when not plugged in though. Never tried it. I can take and make calls via the Bluetooth though.

Yes it can, does not need to be on Android Auto. But AA works better.

It also depends on whether you are moving or not.

Unless something changed without a phone you cannot. I've never had texts come through without a connected phone.

A phone is connected just not with any cable but bluetooth. My current Ecosport displays on screen any incoming text message. I then say play last text message and the car reads aloud my last text message.

My question was can the xlt hybrid Mavericks do the same?. Makes no difference if I am moving. My current car has sync 3. The Maverick xlt has no sync 3 hence my question.

I thought only sync 3 had the feature, which to me would mean only Lariats have it from the factory over Bluetooth. Maybe I don't get them because I have my phone set to "do not disturb" while it's connected to a vehicle via Bluetooth though. I've only received notices of messages while connected by USB in Carplay.

We have an XLT (NO Sync 3J and have a Bluetooth wireless device to connect our iPhones through Apple Car Play.

Messages is one of the Car Play apps, so you can call up the Car Play screen, see if there are any new messages on the app, and if so, tap on the icon and have them read to you.

The wireless Car Play device is not essential — you can just plug your phone into either of the direct USB ports under the radio tuner. But the device means you don’t have to keep plugging and unplugging your phone whenever you get in or get out of the truck.

I cannot imagine the XLT is less capable

Exactly what I was hoping for I should have said I use Android. I am not really sure what is difference between sync 3 and what the XLT Mav comes with. Besides the reading of text messages and google maps I really don't use anything else of Sync 3. Yes i am old at 60.
