The amount of cracked windshields is absurd.

Ive been driving 25 years and in the 2 years I’ve had my maverick I’ve had more windshield cracks then the previous 23 years. I’m on my 2nd windshield but the first one had 2 repairs before I replaced it. I finally had to replace it because I got another crack on a road trip and couldn’t get it repaired in time before it spread. Now on my 2nd windshield I have 2 repairs which luckily I was able to repair before they spread.
I even bought the hood deflector which hasn’t done anything to help.
What is it about this vehicle that attracts rocks?

My rock was the first week after moving to Rio Rancho, on paseo del Norte and a new Durango threw the rock hitting right in my line of sight

My ‘24 Mav survived 12 days before a rock hit above the mirror 1/8” from the roof (saw it coming)

My guess is the angle of the windshield and the aerodynamics that the hood creates.

My 2nd replacement was an aftermarket windshield and has been better than the 2 oem. Safelite is 2x the cost of most aftermarket windshield companies

It might be worth getting or DIY an old style vertical hood mounted wind deflector to help rocks avoid windshield at highway speeds.

I have PTSD when I see 18 wheelers and big trucks now..I change lanes ASAP.

I will say my aftermarket windshield is doing much better than OEM

I had 994 miles on my Mav when I got an 18” crack at eye level on the driver’s side.
That was a bucket of Suck.

It took me 3 tries at scheduling with Safelite before they finally brought the OEM Sound Screen acoustic glass with them.

I think the glass is just thinner and lacks the same degree of temper that other cars have. Design flaw. Just my opinion.

Yeah out of all the vehicles I've ever owned the Maverick has took the most rock chips in the shortest amount of time.

Apparently it sets just at the right height.

I've own numerous full size Chevy and Ford trucks other compacts S10, midsize Hummer h3, Chevrolet Camaro, Chevy equinox, Ford explorer, Ford fusion. I've not had as many rock chips in such short amount of time as with this truck on the windshield.

So far they've all been repairable.

I saw the rock coming at my week old 24 Mav, it hit less than 1/4" from the roof and cracked around my rearview mirror.

It's impact resistant, self-healing and super hydrophobic

I HATE replacing glass, it's such a hassle and the tiny sharp fragments get everywhere
