I was just informed by the Ford dealer that my 2022 Hybrid Engine needs replaced due to a spun rod bearing.

At least the recall worked as intended. My truck went into Limp mode last week with a Service Engine soon warning and P1061 error code.

Parts, new engine, expected on Monday. Mine is at 38,000 miles with no engine/powertrain issues until now.

That's unfortunate. Did the dealer disassemble your engine or are they going solely by the error code?

Cheers.

The recall notice says all that's required for the engine replacement is the correct code. Would be nice to know if they did from Gullzway though.

I would assume it was just due to the code, but am curious as the dealer said it was a spun bearing. Seems like there were no members, that I can recall, posting that they had a lower end failure prior to the software update, now a few have thrown the code. I'd be surprised if the software/sensor can pick up a failure early enough to account for this.

My 22 is going in next week to have the timing cover resealed due to an oil leak, and I'm on the fence about having the software updated then.

Cheers.

So in the event of this failure, what is the warranty on this issue?
Wild to think the Maverick has been out 3 years now already and now with people putting a decent amount of miles on their beloved Maverick’s, some engine failures are starting to pop up. On top of the fact that it took almost 40k miles for it to show up.
I would rather have my original engine with 36,000 miles than having my low mile engine replaced.
I love my Maverick, it’s like a Swiss Army knife as far as versatility.
I’m just concerned about longevity.
Makes me wonder if the ESP is worth getting or not? I never buy an extended warranty. You usually don’t need to for most things.
However, this truck maybe the exception.
My concern about those ESP plans would be if the ESP would really cover what you need it to cover? Or will they just somwhow find a loophole to not honor the ESP?

Mavericks with the engine fire recall have an extended engine warranty for 10 years or 150k miles, whichever comes first.

I already had one of the customer service programs done on my Maverick, related to the faulty inverter to 12v battery cable, no trouble at all even though I never had a problem.

That said, I do have an extended warranty on my truck, but the dealer service people warned me Ford does everything in their power to weasel out, and to find any issues before the factory warranty is up.
