I'm assuming(/hoping) that one of the reasons this took so long is they really wanted to make sure it was fixed and rock solid. I doubt they'd want the PR, and whatever fines they'd get from NHTSA to release the recall fix, and then have to recall that recall.

the ACM is the Ford Connected Audio infotainment unit, which is what is displaying the backup camera video.

Yes, ACM update. Recall pays 1.1 hrs. The 1st one we did here took 1.5 hrs.

These vehicles don't have APIM (sync) for the software for the infotainment screen is in the audio control module.

Seriously, the system is so intertwined that everything on that center monitor probably goes through the same device that does the audio.

Correct.. especially when streaming over the internet.. not the radio p(AM-FM) player.. When the computer is multitasking ..it's no super computer.. Over the internet it buffers signal.. that's why you can hear your music when you go under into a underpass of short tunnel.. or loose internet connectivity, between cell towers..
So the video camera is software defined, it that it "listens to the camera sensor then connects and decodes it's stream and arranges it into pixels on the screen that becomes the picture you see.. Video needs to be much faster than audio.. That's the glitch.

Ham Radio operators can unplug their microphone and send video around the world. So a guy in Kansas can send his picture to a ham in Italy.. this is how I look or this is my house.. However they have to slow down the video.. to microphone speeds .. those video's it takes 8 seconds to produce a single frame.. Think of it as a snapshot.. 8 seconds. Video is 20-30 frames per second, at least 20x8, 160 times faster, that's why it can freeze.

When you have music streaming and back up video going at the came time they overload the processor.. Too much, too fast...

THE ULTIMATE FIX short of installing a faster processor/ more memory, just might be suspend streaming audio, while backing up... That just may be the fix.. Who knows??.. It would only effect streaming audio, not AM-FM radio.. and end video freezing.
