I’ve noticed the plastic on dashboard and console area scratches SOOOOO easily. Literally a light graze with a nail with hardly any pressure will scratch it.

I guess I can accept this since I got an XL base model. But do they also use cheap soft plastic on the Lariats and Lobos? Can anyone confirm this?

This is correct though it seems a little more resilient than on my ‘22 compared to my’25.

Yes. The plastics are Built Ford Rough across the entire lineup. The 42k Mavericks today are built the same way as the 20k Mavericks from 2021/2022.
Definitely is Ford rough. I have a scratch on the dashboard within a week of owning truck.

Ford interiors are cheap across the board. You'll find the same hard, easily scratched materials in $85k Expeditions and $110k Bronco Raptors.

@bgn loves to say the $42k truck was built to the $21,500 price point but that is true of almost every model in America. The F-150 has been on sale since 2021 and had a base price of $29,995 so every F-150 above $30,000 was built to the $30,000 price point.

Yep, agree with the interiors on Fords. Had an 80k Expedition from Enterprise that rattled more than my Maverick. I'd be livid if it were mine. 🤭

Imo, because the price is so low on the Maverick and because the change in price is tiny between the trims compared to an F-150, there's just not enough money to make the plastics better in the higher trims. And yet, some folks (including myself) had an expectation that the Lariat would be significantly nicer than the XL. In my opinion, it's not, and it was an unfair expectation.

Ford had a moment in the mid 2010s when they were actually producing quality interiors. The Taurus SHO was probably peak interior for them, but even today's Mustang is a decent place to conduct business and the Mach E has some parts bin parts but overall steps up in terms of quality.

Ford trucks though have always had crappy interiors. Been riding and driving in them since the 1980s and I've yet to be in one I would ever consider quality.

Yea this is my first Ford. I’m ok with it, I guess, since I bought an XL. But I would NOT accept this on a Lariat or a higher model truck like F series or Explorer or Excursion.

I read so much about this issue I installed a dash cover that I installed right after I took delivery and will keep adding protection at the door and kick panels to help as much as possible

Yes, the interior plastics are very soft. The trim in the door openings is especially susceptible to scratching. My lower door panels are also scuffed up.

I don't have any scratches on my dash from what I can tell but the dash gets extremely sticky in hot temps and sun. I have a bunch of dust and pet hair stuck to it.

My dash got sticky too. I tried cleaning it found out there's no such thing as a 100% lint-free cloth.
I got a dash pad last summer.
One advantage is you don't have to put anything on the dash pad to keep it in place. 😅

You got a link for that dash cover?
Yes here it is a I purchased the Brushed Black Suede I own one for my MotorCoach too different material but equally as nice I paid $73 for my 2025 Maverick
https://www.dashdesigns.com/p-37019-contact.html

they don’t cut out for the speakers but the material is “audio translucent” I wanted to cover the entire dash and it seems fine
