Stupid question- 2022-2024 mavericks - theres a button off display button.

So that means, there is a wire that goes into the headunit that controls just the screen on and off. - do you think theres still a same wire on new units that would control just screen/on/off? meaning do you think if I ran that wire if there is one, through a little click button or toggle on dash, I could turn it on and off?

if anyone has any idea post it up! I really want to be able to turn screen off, vs using a little flap that id velcro to the back. just curiosity. probably wouldn't do it, but if anyone actually knows, would be interesting for sure.

be really cool if someone finds an forscan code to enable that option in settings somewhere, developer mode or something.

oh! those guys who add sync 4 to the current 2022-2024. does their screen off button still work?! they may know the answer to which wire goes to that system that would enable that.

from what I read, there isn't an option, and its something that is bothering me, I really like the ability in my vehicles to turn off the screen, and if its truly not possible. / and its actually possible w a little wire button, id be game. or a flap. lol

There is....but only on the 22-24. The 25 does not have an option to go black from what I understand.

but people have added the 25 screen to the 24's. I wonder what wire is connected to the button all said and done to the unit, because if their button still works, and when its used, if still plays music, thats the key. gotta follow that diagram.

its because they added hvac into the screen ,but they should of made a black out option to leave the little line of hvac alive. no big deal if screen can be turned off with a button/hardwired somehow and leave music on. id make it discrete though, like under dash close to me or something.

just the question is, is it possible. cant wait to hear from someone w the sync 4 conversion in 22-24 unit chime in if they have the ability to do it and still functions as it intended.

Uh... the screen definitely has an off button. Graphic on it looks like [ - ] and it's located dead centre in the button panel in the middle of the dash console.

your screen turns off in your 25?? that literally makes me not have hesitation now with that, that was a major downer for me, I turn screen off everynight driving. because eye surgery sensitivity

Because there exists a screen on/off control button doesn't imply that there's a single wire that controls only that. This is a computer interface, and that's not how it works. For example, there is not a wire running from a wired computer keyboard that matches up to every key on the keyboard right? That is right, by the way, in case you're unaware.

You can also adjust the brightness of the display as well as set it to night mode.

The button turns off the large center display. It does not turn off the instrumentation display, which is necessary because it indicates your speed, etc.
