Me to lol.i think he's asking if there is a way to completely turn off the screen?I'm confused.
In 2025 the radio yes.Me to lol.i think he's asking if there is a way to completely turn off the screen?
So that means, there is a wire that goes into the headunit that controls just the screen on and off. - do you think theres still a same wire on new units that would control just screen/on/off? meaning do you think if I ran that wire if there is one, through a little click button or toggle on dash, I could turn it on and off?
if anyone has any idea post it up! I really want to be able to turn screen off, vs using a little flap that id velcro to the back. just curiosity. probably wouldn't do it, but if anyone actually knows, would be interesting for sure.
be really cool if someone finds an forscan code to enable that option in settings somewhere, developer mode or something.
The head units is a computer running software. The button is attached to one of the computer input pins and software performs the function of shutting the unit down when it gets the proper interrupt signal (high or low) from the button. The functionality would need to be in the SW to execute a routine to turn off the display but it's not so you lose. The power is integrated on the PCBA with the microprocessor so it would be difficult to intercept just the power signal for the display to make the display go blank, and also the sw buffering protocol for dealing with abruptly removing power from the I/O drivers connected between the display and microprocessor would cause some real strange things to happen on the display screen upon power up from an off condition created by use of an inappropriate removal of display power while the microprocessor was still communicating with the display....not really something you would be proud to show off to a rider in the car.So that means, there is a wire that goes into the headunit that controls just the screen on and off. - do you think theres still a same wire on new units that would control just screen/on/off? meaning do you think if I ran that wire if there is one, through a little click button or toggle on dash, I could turn it on and off?

Dunno about a physical button, but per your manual, it takes a few taps of the screen to turn the display off:So that means, there is a wire that goes into the headunit that controls just the screen on and off. - do you think theres still a same wire on new units that would control just screen/on/off? meaning do you think if I ran that wire if there is one, through a little click button or toggle on dash, I could turn it on and off?
