We purchased a 2024 maverick in November, we went back in December to do the down payment and set up loan stuff . When we first talked with the dealer they said there is a recall but we could drive it home in December when we pick up up . We did all the paperwork they took our down payment and after we signed everything and we were on the hook they said we couldn’t take the truck because now it’s a safety recall preventing us from taking the truck but the update is being worked on and should be a week or two . We have made the first payment and still no truck . Now they are saying could be as late as March . We are going angry and tired of the frustration now we hear of other problems plaguing this truck . We love the concept we love the design but we are ready for almost anything else . When I asked if we already owned one and you brought it it they would keep it because of the safety recall . So don’t bring in your truck till they have a fix . Where are everyone else at ?
What was the recall?...I have a 24 & I only heard about a turn signal & backup camera issue....
The 1st one was taken care of & they're waiting for parts to fix the camera...
My problem was the Ford Pass remote start...E very time I tried the remote start I always got an unable to start, Battery Saver mode message...
It only worked a couple times right after I picked it up.
The svc dept. fix was, " You need to drive your truck more ! "....lol
Twice the service people tested the battery, said it was low, but it had to test as " Bad " to get a replacement....
My 3rd call about this same issue ended up with me pretty much demanding a new battery....2 mobile service guys brought a new battery last week....Treid it twice...good so far...What a stupid design...Whoever designed the battery compartment must've sat at a desk their whole career & never actually worked on a vehicle...2 svc guys & myself ....Go under the back seat, remove 3 useless panels & 40 minutes to do a simple battery swap....took longer to replace the panels than to remove them....They're supposedly working a fix for something that's draining the battery while parked.
Curious if that's the same dangerous condition keeping them from giving you your truck....

There's nothing official yet for what the actual solution for the camera recall is. If it's a software update, or if its replacing the module(the camera itself is the same between the XL/XLT and Lariats, but not the actual module that handles the infotainment system).

The camera recall is a stop sale, so that would be what's holding up OP from getting their truck

Since I own the truck outright, if my dealer tried to keep it, the local law enforcement would be involved. 2024 XLT. I hope yours is fixed before mine! I feel you!
They clearly said they made the first payment so why did you post this? This is apples and oranges to the situation.

I wonder did you even ever get to sit in your new Truck ? This dealer sounds to me like nothing but scammers. Could you post there name for me.

Once you've taken delivery.
Outside of a repossession. For missed payments.
No dealer can take possession of your truck while it's in for service and hold it hostage for a recall repair.
It does not work that way.

Own a 23 XLT Hybrid which is in the backup recall, backup does freeze but not very often and for a very short time so I don't notice it much. Mine has done some weird electronics recently though, it will honk the horn twice when I start the car or open the door to leave after turning it off. Hasn't happened enough to say anything to the dealer just weird. Makes one wonder how well the software will perform in a few years.
Mine was honking a couple times after I turn it off and open the door to get out and I couldn't figure out why. It happened yesterday and I think it was because when I reached over to open the door My finger actually hit the power lock button as the door was starting to open and I think that's why it honked twice. I've never had it honk the one I started it. But I haven't tried it again to see if that's what it actually was

No it's not the same condition.
Battery issue on hybrid isn't considered dangerous - because if it can't start - you can't drive - ultimate safety not driving.

Different threads on that battery issue, which will explain a lot.
Should read some of them - DIY'er getting replacement done in 30 min by themselves, but they had the couple of proper tools. Extension for socket wrench, and magnetic pickup. Otherwise no tearout required.

I'm glad you found out what was causing the horn to honk... At least you have an area to focus on.

Since he inferred that he thought the dealer would keep the truck if it was in his possession anyway. My 2 cents, it’s still a free country.

That's what it was. It took me two tries to replicate it but that's what it was. I had started opening the door and used my finger to press the power lock button and then when I opened the door it went click and then went honk twice.

I had my early 24 serviced a couple weeks ago and they didn't keep it, and they did note the pending recall on the receipt
Same got mine its for me the rear camera BS recall so really no matter of any difference to me as IMO thats really only a accessory concern(not safety) thats of no real matter..plus ive noticed nothing out of the ordinary so far either.

This is the 2nd time I've heard of this scenario. The other person has made a couple payments. They actually made him bring his truck back a couple days after he took delivery. They gave him a Ranger loaner that he's been driving for over a couple months now.
I don't understand what law would allow the dealer to repo a vehicle against someone's will. I would probably say no thanks.

I put my fobs in a faraday box ($10 on Amazon) and that seems to have solved the battery issue. My house was close to the vehicle and I was suspecting that it was on standby? You can hear something clicking under the hood all the time when the keys are close. Still on orig battery from 4/22... Haven't had the low power warning for months.

Now, if you could convince the 'My Maverick automatically locks me out crowd.' that they are actually locking themselves out. When they push the manual lock lever while pushing the door open. 🤣

Seems to me, that if you never took delivery, it has not been purchased. You should call a lawyer. I feel for you. Good luck with this.
